Long Paws turns from distributor into own brand maker

Long Paws was started by Elan Mansur in 2011 as a UK based pet accessory distributor.
The company secured the sole distribution rights for a number of US and European based brands, and after a few years of working with these brands, the Long Paws team decided it was time for a change.
"We simply got tired of hearing phrases like it's good enough and even more tired of being told we were being too fussy." says Elan.
The Long Paws team felt they wanted to be able to offer higher quality to their customers, and be able to safely guarantee the products they sell. This led the company to designing their own range of products, at a quality level not often seen in the pet sector.
 Long Paws started developing their own product lines and focussing on developing the Long Paws brand both in the UK and internationally.
Over the past three years, Long Paws has added raincoats, collars, leads, harnesses, tags, and a tick remover, to its line of pet water bottles.
"We've stuck to our guns and maintained our focus of offering outdoor gear for active pets and their owner," adds Elan.
According to Elan, they will be keeping a few of the 3rd party brands in their stable of products, as they offer something different and unique to Long Paws wholesale collection. But where Long Paws has been really focussing is on expanding their brand through their distributor network. So far distribution has been primarily in Europe, but According to Elan, theyre expecting more news in the coming weeks.
While producing its product lines, Long Paws has been developing working relationships with their selected factories.
In addition to producing its own range, the company has managed to leverage off these relationships to develop custom products for a number of other companies who wanted to offer accessories to their customers.
And to keep things interesting, Long Paws has recently moved to new office premises.
"Our last office was getting a little small for our needs, and a move by the landlords to develop the property into apartments, forced our hand a little. But the move has been an excellent one and were looking forward to making more use of our new larger space," says Elan.
