Pets Choice today announced the acquisition of the Spike’s World group of brands, including Spike’s, Wildthings and Feathers & Beaky. A new Pets at Home superstore which opens on Guernsey next week threatens the future of much smaller retailers. That's the view of owners of independent pet shops on the island, who fear the impact of the UK chain store will cause “incredible economic hardship”.

A Coventry pet shop owner has been fined for trading without a licence. Amanda Evans ran Godiva Reptiles and Exotics and magistrates were told she failed to apply for a new licence for 2017, despite continuing to trade as a pet shop.
