PATS 2025 – the Pet & Aquatics Trade Show – has smashed all records with its first-ever show at the NEC Birmingham, attracting its highest-ever attendance figures. A total of 6,021 people visited across the three days, representing a stunning 70% increase on last year’s exhibition.
Under the new ownership of Raccoon Media Group, the largest-ever PATS show also had a truly international feel to it with 317 visitors from overseas, up by a massive 169%, and a record number of 445 exhibitors representing 15 countries.
The show was so successful that an impressive 67% of exhibitors (245 brands) have already booked their stand space for PATS 2026, and more than 50 new companies expressed an interest in exhibiting.
PATS 2025 delivered an unrivalled platform for the launch of exciting new pet product innovations, including a record number of 450 entries to the New Product Showcase. Other highlights included the Aquatics Zone – a dedicated area for aquatics, water gardening and reptile exhibitors – and live grooming demonstrations.
“The pet industry is such an exciting and dynamic space to be part of right now,” said Event Director Ian Reynolds. “I’m genuinely looking forward to collaborating with so many incredible brands and companies – and, most importantly, with the passionate people who work tirelessly to innovate and deliver outstanding products”.
“At PATS, we’re committed to matching that passion by investing in the show and the sector. We’re launching a new event app, supporting a dedicated charity partner within the pet industry, and expanding into Halls 3 and 3a to deliver our largest show yet at 14,000sqm”.
“We’re also working more closely with PetQuip, the Pet Industry Federation, plus other partners, introducing a Hosted Buyer programme, and strengthening our presence in the international pet market. Together, these steps are designed to ensure PATS continues to be the most valuable and vibrant trade exhibition for our industry – helping you connect, grow and succeed.”
This year PATS co-located with leading equestrian trade show BETA International, giving visitors the chance to experience both events and adding significant value to attendees and exhibitors alike.
“We’re delighted with the response to PATS – Pet & Aquatics Trade Show – this year,” said Nicole Cooper, CEO of Raccoon Media Group’s Animal Health Division. “The event continues to be a cornerstone for the industry, and it was fantastic to see so many visitors and exhibitors engaging, networking, and sharing their passion for the sector. We’re already looking ahead to 2026, building on this year’s success and exploring new ways to make the show even more valuable for everyone involved.”
Visitors Jessy Chaston and Jenny Roe, directors of Doodledales in Stowmarket, Suffolk, summed up why PATS is a must-visit exhibition: “We attended the show for the full three days and we only just got round to seeing everything. It was fantastic – we’d recommend it to anyone. We’ll definitely be attending next year.”

The record-breaking PATS 2025 closed on a high with exhibitors and visitors delighted by the huge volume of business being done across all three days of the show.
Simon Lane, director of Ancol Pet Products, said: “It has been an excellent show and we’ve experienced three good days of meeting quality visitors, both current and new customers. I think the move to the NEC was a very positive step, especially for our customers, because of its central location and good transport links.”
This view was shared by Danish Design, whose director of sales and operations Rob Newsome commented: “This has been our best show for years, and we’re delighted at the outcome. It’s a great venue in our opinion and many visitors to our stand admitted that the central location was a big plus point. We’re already looking forward to PATS 2026.”
Simon Smethurst, head of sales of WHM Pet Group, also admitted the NEC location had played its part in delivering a high number of visitors. “The excellent transport links made a difference for people who would otherwise have a difficult journey from the further reaches of the UK. That could be one of the reasons why we’ve had such a busy show.”
One of the popular features at the show was the Aquatics Zone – a dedicated space for key aquatic, reptile and watergardening exhibitors. Aquadip travelled from the Netherlands to exhibit and director Joey Abrahams said: “The show is good for us because we are based abroad so we only speak to people on the phone. At PATS we can meet people face to face and we get the chance to speak to new people and explain how we have a UK operation, so it is easy for them to order. It has been really busy with several new leads and – as always – we have had a great show.”
This year’s show also got the thumbs up from visitors, who packed the aisles over three days of hectic trading.
Rachel Georgiades, owner of Pure Connection Pets in Kent, said: “I haven’t been to PATS for a few years but now seemed like the right time to return. I’m very impressed. I like the fact it’s all in one room, I find it much easier to navigate. I came to see our regular suppliers but also to touch and feel some of the products I’ve been seeing in catalogues and online. There’s nothing quite like seeing them for real.”
Abi Deakin, owner of Pawfections Pet Boutique in Tamworth, commented: “This is our first time at PATS because we always felt the other venues were too far for us. The NEC is much easier to get to and, as we are looking to expand our range, it was a no-brainer to come here. It has definitely been worthwhile as we’ve found loads of products to try.”

The PetQuip Awards were held at the National Conference Centre, alongside PATS trade show at the NEC, where over 400 exhibitors showcased their products at the biggest PATS ever.

Sustainability brand Pet Impact celebrated achieving B Corp after being told of the news while exhibiting at PATS this week.
Gavin Gan, co founder and poo bag expert, said: “For two-to-three years we’ve been building up to achieving B Corp status and were desperately hoping to have achieved it for our first time exhibiting here – so we were initially quite sad that it hadn’t happened.
“Then just as we were setting up on day two of PATS, we got the email to say we’d got it! We were so delighted and we’re so indebted to the PATS team for sharing that excitement and printing out a plaque for us to put on our stand.
“What a great start to our first time exhibiting here. We were initially quite nervous about coming but everyone has been so welcoming and friendly - other exhibitors have been chatting to us and sharing tips - and there’s a real collaborative feel exhibiting here.”
Pet Impact facts:
Each poo bag removes one plastic bottle’s worth of plastic from the ocean and waterways.
All sustainability claims are evidence based by an independent assessment of the product’s lifecycle.
As a brand we say ‘small impact, big changes’
Chatting to retailers we’ve found that the innovation and sustainability message really reasonates.
As Diwali and Bonfire Night approach, Petpals, the nation’s longest-running multi-service pet care franchise, is encouraging families to take steps now to make celebrations less frightening for their four-legged friends.
The sparkle of fireworks might be magical for us, but for pets and horses it’s often a very different story. Every year, thousands of animals suffer fear, stress and even injury as a result of fireworks season. As Diwali and Bonfire Night approach, Petpals, the nation’s longest-running multi-service pet care franchise, is encouraging families to take steps now to make celebrations less frightening for their four-legged friends.
To help, Petpals has launched Paws The Bangs – a nationwide awareness campaign, developed with the support of in-house vet Dr Sophie Bell, that offers friendly, practical advice for owners. The campaign brings together expert guidance, videos and simple solutions, from calming techniques to creating safe spaces at home, all designed to make fireworks season safer and less stressful for pets.
Paws The Bangs is also about looking to the future. Petpals is calling for kinder alternatives to traditional fireworks at public events, such as drone or laser displays, which provide all the spectacle without the same distress for animals and wildlife. Research from the Fireworks Impact Report Survey conducted by RSPCA highlights just how important this shift could be:
95% of pet owners dread fireworks season because of the impact on their animals and local wildlife.
30% feel isolated in their views on fireworks.
40% admit they feel awkward raising concerns with neighbours.
Encouragingly, 75% said they would use a firework alternative if asked by a neighbour with pets.
“Fireworks season can be one of the most difficult times of year for pets, and it’s heartbreaking for owners to watch,” said Kevin Thackrah, Director of Petpals. “Through Paws The Bangs, we’re giving families the tools they need to prepare and reassure their pets, while also raising awareness that there are kinder ways to celebrate. By making small changes, we can all help create a future where celebrations don’t come at the expense of animal welfare.”
Alongside advice and resources, the campaign encourages people to get involved by joining the RSPCA’s Out with the Bang initiative, which enables pet lovers to easily contact their MP to push for more regulation on firework use.
With over 150 territories across the UK, Petpals’ local teams will be sharing campaign materials in their communities to ensure families feel supported and prepared before the first rocket lights up the sky.

Pets Choice has opened its first factory outlet store in Blackburn called Pet Range.
The company has been based in Blackburn for 37 years, currently employing over 360 people and supplying partners in the pet specialty, grocery, independent retail, e-commerce, and veterinary sectors with high-quality products in various formats.
The move to in-store retailing is seen as an exciting step for the Pets Choice team with its growing portfolio creating more jobs in the area.
Tony Raeburn, CEO of Pets Choice, said: “We have been building our presence in Blackburn for many years and are a major employer in the town.
“Opening a store is a great way to raise our profile and help reduce waste by selling our loved brands to the community at outlet prices.
“It was always my plan to have a store for food, treats and toys, and visitors should expect to see discounts every time they come. We have so many fantastic brands in the Pets Choice family, shoppers - and their pets - are going to be spoiled for choice.”
New research from SERAQUIN reveals that with owners eager to keep their pets healthier for longer, three in five pets (61%) are regularly given supplements as part of their diet...
New research from SERAQUIN reveals that with owners eager to keep their pets healthier for longer, three in five pets (61%) are regularly given supplements as part of their diet.
London leads the way, with 81% of pets given supplements compared with just 52% in Scotland, while younger owners are the least engaged (56%) and 35-44s are the most proactive (69%).
The survey of UK dog and cat owners found that supplements are no longer reserved for managing existing conditions but are increasingly being used as a supportive measure for long term wellbeing. Almost half (47%) of owners who give their pets supplements say they do so to boost their pet’s overall health, while a third (33%) say it is to help prevent health conditions before they arise.
This preventative mindset is echoed by the wider findings, as three-quarters (75%) of pet owners believe supplements can help stop health problems from developing.
While most owners believe they’re doing everything they can for their pets’ health, nearly two in ten (19%) admit they could do more – with Northern Ireland (41%) and the West Midlands (27%) the least sure they’re doing everything they can. Male owners are more confident than female owners in making pet health decisions (50% vs 34% are very confident); almost a quarter of women (24%) say they would feel overwhelmed starting a supplement routine for their pet, compared to just 11% of men – suggesting that many owners would welcome clearer guidance and advice.
Among those who feel they are not doing enough for their pet’s health, the top reason given is a lack of knowledge (45%) – particularly among dog owners (47% vs 43% of cat owners).
Recognising this knowledge gap, SERAQUIN®’s Veterinary Expert, Sarah Boulding, explains how supplements can play a vital role in supporting the everyday wellbeing of all pets:
“What stands out in this research is the shift towards prevention, with owners recognising that small, consistent steps today can keep pets healthier and happier for longer. Just as many people take daily vitamins, we are now seeing supplements are no longer considered a luxury and are part of pets’ everyday routines – one serve of goodness at a time.
“Supplements help fill the nutritional gaps, especially when it comes to joint support, digestive health, and skin condition. But it’s important to choose products that are backed by science, particularly because our pets’ wellbeing is so deeply connected to our own. Having clarity and confidence in the choices we make really matters, and at SERAQUIN® we aim to make that simple, with products backed by science that owners can trust and pets can benefit from.”
Mealtimes are also becoming an important daily ritual, with one in four (26%) owners taking this opportunity to incorporate supplements into their pets’ diets, as many supplements can be given as treats or sprinkled over food, making it simpler for pets to consume. This underlines how supplements are being integrated into familiar routines as a natural way to show care.
Backed by 140 years of pet care experience, Seraquin® Joint, Seraquin® Digest and Seraquin® Skin & Coat have been developed by Boehringer Ingelheim using clinically-backed, natural origin ingredients with proven efficacy, providing owners with peace of mind that they are nourishing their pets, one serve of goodness at a time.
Vani Manja, Country Managing Director for Boehringer Ingelheim, UK and Ireland, said:
“With more than 140 years dedicated to advancing health, Boehringer Ingelheim has long understood the intrinsic connection between animal and human wellbeing.
Just as we proactively take steps to support our own health through supplements and preventative care, it’s only natural to extend the same care to our pets – trusted companions who enrich our lives.
As awareness of the importance of preventative care continues to grow among pet owners, Boehringer is proud to lead this shift – empowering pet owners with solutions to help their cats and dogs live longer, healthier, and happier lives.”

The NEC Birmingham was transformed into a feline wonderland, as more than 5,000 visitors came together for The Cat Show Live, one of the largest cat expos ever held in Birmingham and the only non-competitive event of its kind in the UK.
The event showcased a worldwide love for felines, attracting attendees from as far as America and Dubai. Visitors had the opportunity to meet 285 cats, from over 30 different breeds, gain insights from feline experts on topics ranging from nutrition to behaviour, shop for a diverse selection of cat-related products and learn about vital rescue initiatives.
Celebrity hosts and television vet Dr. Scott Miller took the stage alongside Marverine Cole and Kathryn Stanchyzyn, captivating audiences with informative talks that focussed on responsible cat ownership.
A highlight of the event was the launch of the “Rescue 100” initiative, aimed at addressing the ongoing rehoming crisis affecting many cats in the UK. The initiative received an overwhelming response, with applications for both cats and potential adopters flooding in shortly after the event.
Sam Marsh and Pete Banbury, Co-Founders of The Cat Show Live, expressed their excitement about the event's success, saying, "The response we received has been truly overwhelming. Our hard work doesn’t stop here; our team is now focused on rehoming 100 cats. We invite anyone considering adoption to reach out to The Cat Show Live to discover the wonderful cats from the 18 dedicated rescues that need loving homes.
"It's incredible to witness such growth in our community, and we are thrilled to bring The Cat Show Live to London in 2026."
The Cat Show Live has announced its return to Birmingham’s NEC on 12th September 2026. The show will be expanding its reach with its inaugural event in London next year, promising to unite cat lovers across the nation.
With Bonfire night plus Xmas and New Year looming, now’s the time to start sprinkling Calm Down! herbs on sensitive dogs’ food...
CSJ says: “Fireworks and festive celebrations needn’t be bad news for dogs and their owners.”
With Bonfire night plus Xmas and New Year looming, now’s the time to start sprinkling Calm Down! herbs on sensitive dogs’ food.
Recommended by Behaviourists, Trainers and Vets the gentle blend of Camomile, Lemon Balm, Vervain, Lime Flowers and Skullcap in Calm Down! comes in a re-sealable foil pouch. Just sprinkle on food (moisten if preferred) … it’s a simple and easy way to make life more bearable for dogs and their owners!
Symptoms of anguish caused to dogs by noise can be extreme panting, constant pacing, howling or barking, scraping the carpet or door, refusal to eat or drink, refusing to go outside, involuntary toileting and even running away ……. all causing owners to suffer along with their pets.
CSJ repeatedly hear about Calm Down’s benefits in helping previously inconsolable dogs cope with fireworks and other stressful situations such as car travel, being amongst other dogs, competition or shows. They say, “Some of the feedback we receive is almost too good to be true, here’s just one example …”
“I've used Calm down for a number of years now, I was introduced to Calm Down by my dog trainer, when I had a rescue dog who had behavioural problems, she needed something to help her relax, with the use of this product and guidance from my trainer, I eventually had a less stressed dog who went on to enjoy life and 14yrs as part of my family. I use this product with all my rescue dogs to help them settle and enjoy life, it's especially useful when Fireworks are being set off.”

An independent pet store in Bath has closed after the owners failed to find a buyer for the business.
Park Pets in Moorland Road posted on its Facebook page: “Well, the rumours are true – we are unfortunately closing down.
“We had sold the business and were hopeful that it would stay as a pet shop but the potential new buyer was unable to agree a new contract with the agent so unfortunately we will be closing the shop down.
“Please come in to say goodbye and support us one last time and treat your pet to something in our half-price sale (exclusions apply.)
“Coopers Cuts will be contacting their clients to rearrange their appointments, please be kind to them as this is totally out of their control.
“Thank you for your support over the past four years, we couldn’t have done it without you.”

Pet Brands has signed a licensing agreement with the Royal Horticultural Society, marking a pioneering collaboration that will see the creation of the first-ever RHS pet product category.
The collaboration will bring to market Pets in the Garden – an innovative range featuring designs inspired by the RHS Lindley Collections and its extensive archive of horticultural and botanical imagery.
Uniting the UK’s leading pet accessories company with the nation’s most respected gardening charity, the range will celebrate the bond between people, their pets, and their outdoor spaces.
Designed with the needs of both pets and gardeners in mind, Pets in the Garden will feature a variety of stylish, functional, and environmentally conscious products, allowing pet owners to enjoy their gardens while alongside their pet companions.
“We’re incredibly excited to be launching the first-ever RHS pet range,” said Amy Spratt, Group Head of Marketing at Pet Brands Ltd. “Garden centres have become key destinations for pet owners, and this range perfectly reflects the shared values of both the pet and horticulture communities – care, wellbeing, sustainability, and joy. Pets in the Garden brings these worlds together in a way that’s never been done before.”
Cathy Snow, Licensing Manager at the RHS, added: This range aims to combine usefulness with style and a love of pets and the outdoor life, and, thanks to Pet Brands’ years of experience in premium pet products and our own gardening expertise and design assets, it achieves exactly that. It also brings the RHS name to an important market which has a strong appeal both for our supporters and for gardening lovers in general.”
The Pets in the Garden range will be available across selected retailers and garden centres in early 2026, but pre-launch is available to discuss now.
