FEDIAF, the European Pet Food Industry Federation, took part at the 23rd European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ESVCN) Congress in Turin last month and launched a new expert review paper on carbohydrates in pet food.
The paper was recently adopted by the Scientific Advisory Board which includes independent and renowned scientists from across Europe. The board also assists FEDIAF in updating the FEDIAF Nutritional Guidelines for Cats and Dog.
Dr Thomas Brenten, Chair of the FEDIAF Nutrition and Analytical Science Working Group advised: “There is currently a lot of controversy surrounding carbohydrates and this expert review will help to debunk some myths and to shed some light on what the carbs are and their role in nutrition”.
