Nutrient-rich meat free dog treats from Huxley Hound

Mike Deane at Huxley Hound had initially been concerned at to whether the moment was yet ripe to take his unique ‘nutritious treat’ message to the bustling national PATS show and yet the overwhelmingly positive reaction of an engaging and well-informed audience has been nothing short of incredible!

Within a fast-changing pet food fraternity where nutritionally robust and premium meal solutions are making great strides, (raw, grain free, organic..) pet treats have remained something of an unappetizing minefield, for the most part dominated by over-processed, mass market offerings of dubious nutritional worth ( meat meal, masking salts & sugars and the odd artificial nasty).

The revolutionary Huxley Hound portfolio travels a completely different path altogether, working with best-in-class, British grown, dehydrated organic veg.

Backed by the Bio-science department of Nottingham University, Huxley Hound have created a distinct meat-free treat that is perfectly aligned to fighting the escalating pet obesity epidemic that now effects 1 in 3 UK dogs.

According to Huxley Hound founder Mike Deane, "Whilst  it’s been well known for some while that vegetables and their beneficial nutrients are an integral part of any health conscious hound’s daily diet, what wasn’t appreciated is a canine’s stubborn anatomy that is not well-versed at breaking down the cellulose that guards the all-important vitamins and minerals.

"After much research and countless trials we’ve created a unique dehydration process that nudges all the essential goodies to the surface of our treats, making it easier for pets to ingest them."

With a flourishing online business, an expanding national network of independent pet stores and an Ocado listing to boot,  Huxley’s 4 strong portfolio of Vegetarian Society approved pet snacks (beetroot, parsnip, sweet potato and carrot) are providing a new chapter in healthier living pet snacks, snacks perfectly placed to accompany any pet’s daily diet (wet, dry, raw….)
