Gold standard in rabbit care for veterinary hospital

Valley Veterinary Hospital in Cardiff is the very first practice in Wales to be awarded a Gold Standard Award for excellence in rabbit care by the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund, the UK’s largest charity solely dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of rabbits.

Valley Veterinary Hospital joins just 11 other practices in the UK that have the Gold Standard seal of approval awarded by the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF).

RWAF's award standards are extremely high as veterinary practices must go through a very lengthy application process and prove their standards of care are nothing short of excellent. Valley Veterinarian, Tariq Abou-Zahr (pictured below), applied for the award as the practice's on-site exotic animal specialist.

Rabbits are the third most popular household pet in the UK but often the most misunderstood. The Gold Standard Award helps rabbit owners recognise a practice that understands how to properly care for these misunderstood animals.

As the first practice to receive the Gold Award in Wales, RWAF is hoping that Valley Veterinary Hospital will pioneer the way for other Welsh practices to follow suit and apply for the award.

Any veterinary practices interested in applying for the Rabbit Friendly Vet List should visit https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rabbit-vets/vet-membership/
