Pet shop hit by fire plans to reopen
A planning application has revealed that a pet shop destroyed by a huge blaze last October hopes to reopen in the near future.
The 1st 4 Pets store in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, has remained closed since the fire but planning documents submitted to Erewash Borough Council say the ground floor would be restored with a new shop front and the upper floors converted into flats.
The planning report says the proposed works would enhance the building with a new shop front which would also remove some additions to the property which have been constructed over time.
This shop front would include a black aluminium frame and timber window frames, with the use intended for a small, local start-up business. A decision on the plans will be made by the borough council in the next few months.
