Health-conscious dog owners and pet professionals will be able to learn more about the benefits of Canicross during demonstrations at Crufts on on Thursday March 9.

Emily Thomas and her team will showcase the benefits for and brands looking to learn more about the activity.

Canicross has seen a huge rise in popularity with owners since the 2020 lockdown when exercise was limited and the dog population soared.

Emily Thomas (pictured right) created the UK’s Ofqual regulated Canicross Coach qualification in 2022 with iPET Network in response to demand and to raise standards in the industry.

She said: “We’re looking forward to showing people how to run with their dog and the positive impact it can have for dogs and people.

“Running and spending time outdoors together has so many physical benefits and exercise is great for emotional well-being and mental health.

“Because so many people are taking part, there’s an opportunity for pet service providers such as dog walkers and trainers to offer Canicross classes.

“It’s also cost of living friendly too, and a way to bring dog owners together as a community so we hope to meet with lots of people who want to know more.”

Canicross Coach is a training provider created by Emily Thomas of K9 Trail Time, Dawn Crook-Richards of CaniX UK and Toria Seaton from Wonky Dog Therapy
