A popular family-run pet shop in Dartford has closed its doors for the final time after 38 years in business as owners retire.

Pet & Garden Supplies closed on Saturday as owners Marion and Andrew decided to spend more time with their growing family.

They told customers of their decision on Facebook, saying: “We would like to say a big thank you to all of our customers who have supported our dream over the past 38 years.

“It’s now time for us to say goodbye and retire, so we can spend more time with our growing family.”

After the final day of trading, the couple added:

“Thank you to everyone who came in to say goodbye and for your thoughtful cards and gifts. So many flowers around the house.

“I will miss you all, but from my heart it’s been a dream for 38 years.”
