Firm secures £700k to improve pet dental care

Luna Pet Healthcare, a dental-only veterinary business, has secured £700,000 funding to support growing demand from customers seeking to improve the dental care of their pets.

Operating as Luna the Dental Vets, the company provides affordable veterinary dental care for dogs and cats through dedicated dental-only clinics, with sites in Bristol and Reading.

The business has also launched a range of preventative dental health products to help pet parents care for their pets’ dental health at home.

Luna was founded in 2024 by Dr Joe Inglis, a qualified veterinarian and pet sector entrepreneur, to address a structural gap in the UK veterinary market and make preventative and restorative dental care affordable and accessible. He, and co-founder Louise Cooke, are helping pets live healthier lives through expert-led, proactive veterinary care and ongoing support.

The investment will enable Luna to support the growing demand from customers as well as open additional sites in the South West region. Funding will also allow the business to invest in developing and marketing more dental healthcare products and expand the range of dental services they provide.

The funding was provided by the British Business Bank’s South West Investment Fund, managed by Maven, alongside existing investors Jenson Funding Partners and new investors Angel Investors Bristol.

Dr Joe Inglis, Founder of Luna Pet Healthcare, said: “As a vet and pet owner I know first-hand how devastating dental disease can be for our pets and also how difficult it can be for pet owners to access high quality dental care for their pets at affordable prices. So, I’m really excited to have Maven’s and the South West Investment Fund’s support as we rollout more clinics and make our products more widely available - and help us transform the dental health of the nation’s pets.”

Katie Shaw, Investment Associate at Maven, commented: “Luna Healthcare is redefining pet dental care, addressing a genuine need in the industry creating accessible treatment plans for pet owners. We’re delighted to support Joe, Louise and the team at this point in the company’s growth journey, there is a strong demand for their services, and we look forward to supporting Luna Healthcare as they expand their clinics across the region.”

Lizzy Upton, Senior Investment Manager at British Business Bank, added: “Luna Healthcare is bringing something genuinely new to the region, and we’re proud that the South West Investment Fund can support their next phase of growth. This investment shows the strength of collaboration between the Fund and private investment partners, and will help the team reach more pet owners, open new clinics and continue building a business that drives innovation and job creation across the South West.”
