Following the longstanding success of Rescue a Rescue, which saw 80% of animals rehomed last year, Agria is renewing its commitment to supporting UK rescue centres for a fifth year. The announcement comes as the latest figures reveal that approximately 250,000 cats and dogs continue to wait in UK rescue centres for their forever homes.
Since launching in 2021, Rescue a Rescue has shone a spotlight on some of the UK’s most overlooked animals. The campaign was prompted by the significant increase in pets ending up in rescue centres following the pandemic pet ownership boom of 2020.
This year, 13 animals across 12 UK rescues and rehoming organisations have been shortlisted by an expert judging panel, which includes Agria ambassador and TV vet, Dr Scott Miller. To support the campaign and provide much needed funds for rescue centres to continue their work, Agria will donate £1,000 to every participating rescue - £12,000 in total.
Agria ambassador, Dr Scott Miller, spoke on the campaign: “Every day I see just how many wonderful animals are still waiting for a second chance in rescue centres. This is why campaigns like Rescue a Rescue are so important. Not only is Argia helping rescues by donating £1,000 to each centre, but also helping the animals who desperately deserve homes receive the spotlight they deserve.
“My hope is that not only will all 13 animals find forever homes, but also that the nation is inspired to visit their local rescue and explore the wonderful pets who deserve to find their family.”
A total of six dogs, five cats (which includes a bonded pair) and two horses were selected by the expert panel.
By raising awareness of the urgent need to rehome rescue pets across the UK, the pet insurer hopes to find homes for all 13 of its ‘Rescue a Rescue’ spotlight animals.
