Revealed: The secrets of new pet product bestsellers



Winning a New Product Award at the UK’s No1 pet trade show can have a tremendous impact on the fortunes of a PATS exhibitor. It can help turn a new launch into a bestselling item in pet stores around the country and clinch that all-important export deal.

One of the main reasons why the Award is held in such high esteem is the fact it is decided be a panel of independent retailers, who know what it takes for a product to fly on the shelves.

Entries for the New Product Showcase and Awards at PATS Sandown, which takes place on March 21-22, are still flooding in as exhibitors get ready to showcase their latest launches to retailers and buyers from the UK and abroad.

How did you react to winning a New Product Award at PATS Sandown?
We were delighted. It means so much to know that all the hard work of launching a product has been recognised by the trade. The comments from the panel regarding the products that won were very complimentary.

Has the award helped your business?
PATS is a great platform to promote new products to the trade. Receiving the award is a real advantage because the press coverage increases awareness and demand for the products.

How have you used the win to promote the product?
We advertised the award and winning products and the award to the trade in wholesalers catalogues, the trade press and on our website. The marketing activity as a result raised the profile of our company and products. From the press coverage we received many trade enquires.

Since winning the award we have advertised and promoted the Pet Remedy brand in the UK’s pet trade publications.

For All DogKind – Winner of Grooming Product Award with Shampoo range, PATS Sandown 2016

How did you react to winning a New Product Award at PATS Sandown?
We worked so hard to create DogKind and were delighted to be awarded Best Grooming Product. We felt honoured that our brand was recognised for its natural ingredients and excellent value for money.

Has the award helped your business?
Since the award our brand has grown massively within the pet, vet and grooming market. Our products are now endorsed by vets, used by professionals and loved by both dogs and their owners.

How have you used the win to promote the product?
We have told everyone about our award as we are very proud of it. We also mentioned it on our TV appearance on QVC, which lead to a huge increase in sales!

Supa Ltd – Winner of Giftware Product Award with Garden Décor range, PATS Sandown 2016

How did you react to winning a New Product Award at PATS Sandown?
With a sense of pride that the panel of judges made up of distinguished members of the pet trade had the foresight to see the potential of this new and exciting Garden Décor range. It is always difficult launching a range of products that have not been seen before but the judges’ seal of approval and the resultant publicity generated by the award ceremony created considerable sales momentum.

The publicity from the New Product Awards has raised the profile of Supa Ltd, to the stage where we are often now asked what new products are we bringing out next.

How have you used the win to promote the product?
The goodwill and publicity has ensured many new listings and allowed us to strength our relationships with both new and existing customers.
