Eukanuba’s Longevity Observation voted one of the top 5 most influential articles of 2016

Online publisher BioMed Central has announced that Eukanuba’s peer reviewed longevity article was one of the most influential articles of 2016 in the well-known journal Acta Veterinaria Scandinavica, according to Altmetric, an independent tracking system.
For Eukanuba, the journey began back in July 2004 when it embarked on a ten-year observation involving 39 very special Labradors. Their health and longevity were monitored and the results were unprecedented – nearly 90%1 of Labrador Retrievers fed Eukanuba, together with appropriate care, lived beyond the breed’s typical twelve-year life expectancy. Even more astonishingly - almost a third (28%) of the dogs achieved exceptional longevity by living beyond an incredible 15.6 years2. One dog, Utah, lived until the ripe old age of 17 years and 11 months. That’s the equivalent of approximately 109 years in human terms.
The study’s ‘Longevity Council’3, a panel of internationally renowned veterinarians and industry experts, agreed that the unparalleled results demonstrated and redefined what successful ageing in dogs can look like. These experts represent opinions from fields across veterinary medicine including orthopaedics, genetics and nutrition.
In May 2016, Eukanuba and the Longevity Council published their first set of results in Acta Veterinaria Scandinavica for the public to download or read online at BioMed Central which has now been announced as one of the top five most influential articles of 2016.
