Cheeky Wipes launches new reusable pet wipes range

Cheeky Wipes, the UK-based company that’s making it easy – and fun – to cut down on single use plastics, is launching an innovative new reusable range designed especially for pets. The Cheeky Pet collection features a selection of eco-friendly, washable alternatives to everyday disposable pet products.

Cheeky Pet is launching with three core products: a reusable treat bag, a washable, portable puppy training pad, and a comprehensive pet cleaning wipes kit, which features everything you need to keep your pets muck-free. Together, the products are designed to encourage pet owners and animal lovers to ditch the disposables, reduce waste, and minimise the number of products that end up in landfill and oceans, and polluting our planet.

The first new addition - and a must-have for any dog owner - is the Cheeky Pet PUL laminated treat bag. With a super soft plush feel, and secure zipped pockets, the bag can be taken out on any walk to help reward and reinforce positive behaviour.

The second product, developed with puppy needs in mind, is a foldable training pad, featuring a soft, absorbent bamboo cloth on one side, and a waterproof layer on the other to eliminate leaks and spills. Unlike regular pads which are disposed of after use, the Cheeky Wipes alternative is simply washed at 40 degrees, dried, and used again and again.

The third product in the initial Cheeky Pet line-up is a reusable pet cleaning wipes kit, which contains 10 soft and washable rainbow coloured bamboo terry wipes, and a double pocket wet bag to store wipes after use. Gentle on sensitive paws, the wipes are activated using water only, with absolutely no chemicals. They can also be used dry, making them ideal for sand, mud, and anything else dogs love to roll around in! Wash, dry, and use again. With zero waste.

Helen Rankin, Cheeky Wipes Founder, said: “Over the past few years, there has been a massive shift to more environmentally friendly, reusable baby products. For example, an increasing number of new parents are opting to use cloth nappies instead of disposables. However, most families have been unable to extend their green living efforts to pet care. There simply haven’t been the products that have enabled them to do so. That’s what we want to tackle with our new pet range; we want to show that making green choices is possible in every area of our lives, including caring for our four-legged friends.”

National Geographic reports that one third of all households across the world include at least one dog, with pets bringing many benefits to both physical and mental wellbeing. However, the environmental impact of pet ownership is increasing, with reports suggesting that UK pets are now responsible for an extra 1.3 million tonnes of CO2 than they were prior to the global health crisis. It’s clear that more needs to be done to reduce the carbon footprint of pets.

While reducing this environmental impact means focusing on some of the biggest offenders - such as pet food and toys - there are other elements that we must consider, too. This includes the use of disposables, such as puppy pads, cleaning wipes, and plastic food bags used to hold treats for walks. Non-biodegradable products do not break down, lasting for years in landfill and oceans, harming wildlife, and contributing to the microplastics crisis.

Switching for disposables to reusables is one of the easiest changes pet owners can make. Yet it could have one of the biggest, boldest impacts.
