Dog owners guilty of not brushing their pets' teeth

Recent research carried out by Ceva Animal Health, manufacturer of Logic Oral Hygiene Gel and Logic Orozyme Dental Chews, has revealed that despite over a quarter of dog and cat owners identifying that their pets have bad breath, nearly half of those questioned have never brushed their pet’s teeth.

Like humans, brushing is the best way to care for an animal’s teeth. However the research identified that only 12% of owners brushed their pet’s teeth daily, with 15% brushing every other day, 12% brushing once or twice a month and 15% brushing only when they remember!  Moreover, only half of those questioned used dental chews to take care of their pet’s dental health, despite chews being very easy to use with the physical action of chewing helping to remove plaque and increase saliva production.

Micky Blackburn, Logic marketing executive at Ceva Animal Health, comments: “Regular dental hygiene is essential to help avoid plaque and tartar build up and prevent tooth decay.  Ninety per cent of owners consider their pet’s teeth to be as vulnerable as their own, and are aware of potential health problems associated with dental disease.  To minimise these issues they should be encouraged to carry out routine dental hygiene, such as tooth brushing, as regularly as possible.”

Logic Oral Hygiene Gel has a multi-enzyme patented system that helps prevent the formation of plaque and fights bad breath.  The unique formula contains a surfactant, which helps it bind to a pet’s teeth meaning you can use it with or without brushing.  Logic Chews contain a unique multi-enzyme and antibacterial complex.  When combined with the chewing action that massages gums and cleans food particles from teeth it results in healthier mouths with fresher breath. The low calorie, long lasting chews are easy and convenient to use and should be used in conjunction with Logic Oral Hygiene Gel.

Premium products which have been trusted in vets for over 10 years are now available for retailers to stock.
