2017 World Sheepdog Trials success for Welsh young handler

Logan Williams and his Border Collie Ned had a spectacular result in the first ever Young Handler competition held at the World Sheepdog Trials, becoming Reserve World Champion and only three points behind the winner Karianne Buer from Norway.

Logan’s success is all the more amazing since he only bought Ned aged seven months old in October 2015 and competed in his first trial in May 2016 (coming away with a first).

CSJ were proud to be main sponsors of the event which was hosted in the Netherlands.

The trials were a tremendous success and enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike. The Young Handler competition (for under 21 year olds) was incredibly popular with even seasoned triallists telling us they became engrossed in watching the youngsters.

Not to be outdone by his countryman Kevin Evans beat off rivals in the adult trials to become Reserve World Champion with Border Collie Ace whilst England won the Team event.

Ceri Rundle of CSJ commented: “750 sheep were used and with over 30 nations taking part including contestants from countries as diverse as Israel, Uruguay and Iceland the logistics of holding the event were immense but made an unforgettable success by everyone involved and ably organised by ISDS 2017 World Trial Chairman Erik Groot whose wife Petra also made the lovely trophies from Welsh slate.”
