Full steam ahead for Hollings treats

Treat manufacturer Hollings Ltd has improved its productivity with the introduction of a semi-automatic packing machine, which enables the company to pack 15,000 packets in one shift with just four operators...

The 14 head multi-head weigher has a twin bagging unit, heat sealer and metal detector, and the machine is packing items such as Tripe, Jerky, Beef Curls, Paddywacks, Sausages in packs from 50g to 2kg.

Output has increased from 50,000 packets per day to 65,000 per day (250,000  per week to 325,000 packets per week).

Hollings has plans for another similar line to be installed before the end of the year increasing the packing capacity to 500,000 packets per week – that's a total of 25 million a year.
