West Yorkshire-based business Pure Pet Food had visit from Princess Anne on Tuesday when she was given a tour of the innovative manufacturing facility and met the team behind the now globally sold dog food brand.
Founded by childhood friends Daniel Valdur Eha and Mathew Cockroft, Pure Pet Food has quickly grown from a tiny business which started life in Daniel’s kitchen to a brand that is now sold around the world and in major retailers.
Founder Daniel said: “It was a huge honour to welcome HRH Princess Anne to our factory. Our business has come a long way in the last few years, we started with an idea to create a wholesome dog food, made of purely natural ingredients without the inconveniences that preparing a raw diet can come with.
"Following extensive research and development we came across the concept of food dehydration. Our small local business has now gained major global reach and we look forward to our continued growth and providing pets of the world with healthy, nutritious diets for many more years to come.”
The visit was the pinnacle of a host of recent accolades and achievements for the business. Most recently, Pure won Lloyds TSB’s National Best Start-up award and the PetQuip Pet Product Innovation award. Pure’s founders also famously turned down funding after successfully receiving offers from Deborah Meaden and Kelly Hoppen on the hit BBC show Dragons' Den.
“Pure is an example that innovation and a belief in your idea can be all you need to start a business. The future looks bright for Pure, with cat food and other innovative natural pet products in the pipeline for 2017," Daniel continued.
Being a well-known dog lover herself, Her Royal Highness was keen to visit the growing business and even received a special doggy hamper for her two corgis.
Now out of Daniels kitchen, Pure produces their natural dehydrated dog food products in their own human grade food facility in West Yorkshire. The company started with just £3,000 in 2012, now employs seven members of staff and is rapidly expanding as it continues to build traction in the UK and Europe.
Co-founder Mat commented: “Our range has several unique advantages over other pet food currently on offer. We believe there is a real opportunity to grow a healthy sustainable business here in West Yorkshire and create jobs in our local area."
