Lords Pet Parasite Medication inquiry hears from representatives from pet health industry

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee continued its inquiry into Pet Parasite Medications (PPMs) yesterday (Wednesday 17 June), by hearing from representatives from the pet health industry.
Giving evidence were:
- Dr Donal Murphy, Deputy CEO, Head of International and Regulatory Affairs, NOAH
- Dr Ian Wright, Chairman and Director, ESCCAP
- Dr Jacqui Skelly, MRCVS, Head of Veterinary Technical Services, UK and Ireland, Elanco.
Questions from the committee covered the following areas:
- Pet products and their importance for animal and human health;
- Authorisation processes and how manufacturers consider environmental impacts;
- Risk-based approach and prophylactic use;
- Engagement with vets and SQPs on product use;
- Product guidance and advice to pet owners;
- International alignment on advice and guidance.
