Pet crematorium given the go-ahead

Despite more than 30 objections, a new pet crematorium has been given the go-ahead to open in South Devon.

The company behind the project, Goodmans Pet Cremations, re-assured the local planning committee that the facility would be safe and odourless.

It argued there was a ‘concerning’ trend for people dumping animals in black bin bags or in wild areas. “This not only disrespects the memory of beloved pets but can also lead to environmental issues. This is a respectful and dignified option.”

Councillors were told the only emission from a chimney at the crematorium would be steam and there would be no smell issues.
