Beco Pets makes TV debut sponsoring new game show

Beco Pets has announced its first venture into television by sponsoring a new prime-time entertainment series, ‘The Great British Bark Off’.
The Saturday night game show, airing later this year, stars canine contestants in the kitchen and will feature dog-themed dishes for pet-loving family audiences.
Host of TV’s quiz ‘A Question of Sport’, aptly-named Sue Barker (pictured above) is tipped to replace judge Mary Berry as host of ‘Bark Off’.
An insider at the BBC (British Barking Corporation) leaked plans for the show, which revealed dogs are being trained to take on a range of cooking challenges.
Dishes for dogs to cook include salmon and cream cheese beagles and ruff-puff pastry. An agility expert from Crufts has also been brought in to improve contestants’ sausage dogs rolls. Producers insist health and safety are key during filming in case any studio dishes catch fire and go woof in the ovens. For protection, dogs will have to wear chefs’ hats.
Beco Pets is proudly sponsoring the show’s savoury section, and the restaurant chain Wagger-Mama will fund a sweets section with dishes planned like poodle strudel and jam scones with whippet cream.
Beco Pets co-Founder George Bramble said: “We’ve longed for ages to sink our teeth into a project like this. Now we’re positively salivating at the prospect of making our debut as TV sponsors. This is a first for us, but as dog owners ourselves, we know how to take the lead.”
Beco partner Toby Massey added: “During filming, it’s been agreed contestants will be fed our healthy new meat-meal free Beco Food for Dogs recipes (wild boar, free-range chicken and sustainably caught fish) to keep their strength up.”
This weekend, rehearsals took place for a pilot episode featuring two Beco office dogs: Terrier Rupert, (pictured, top, with Sue, no relation to the TV presenter) and Tarka the Labrador (above) who helped Sue measuring ingredients.
Asked whether the Great British Bark Off is ever likely to be broadcast, one senior TV Commissioning Centre executive said: “With dogs as the stars, this show’s clearly got legs.
“That’s why we’ve invested heavily in it. The baking format’s a bit old and crusty though and we just hope we haven’t been sold a pup.”
