The opening day of PATS Sandown has been hailed as a huge success by exhibitors, who unveiled an amazing array of products in two busy halls at Sandown Park.

It’s the first time the event has taken place on a Sunday and Monday in February, and the change of dates has worked wonders for the pet industry.

Exhibitors were particularly pleased with the quality of enquiries and orders generated from the many visitors who flocked into the show, and an upbeat atmosphere echoed throughout both the Surrey and Esher Halls.

The Golden Paste Company was one of more than 40 companies exhibiting at PATS Sandown for the first time, and managing director Janine Kell said: “The interest we’ve had from the retail industry has been phenomenal. We’ve been run off our feet, which is so exciting. We decided to do a big push on the pet market this year and coming to PATS has been the perfect start for us.”

Two other newcomers to the Sandown exhibition – Aquamat Chiller and Gravitis Pet Supplies – were equally ecstatic about the show’s day one success.

Aquamat Chiller director Alison Roberts said: “We haven’t stopped since we arrived at the show and what’s more the interest has come from independent retailers, which is the market we were aiming at.”

And Maris Gravitis commented: “So far it has been a very good show. Lots of people have been to our stand and we already have some strong orders. I am very happy to be here and excited about how it can help us to grow.”

Another success story on a memorable opening day was Marriages, who picked up a New Product Award. Sam Marriage, managing director of Marriages Specialist Foods, said: “PATS is a really important launchpad for us and we try to come to every single show with at least one new product. It’s really good that PATS supports us in the industry with these awards as it helps to keep innovation in the market.”

“PATS is the key show to come to for new business and to talk to our existing customers,” said Ryan Winwright, trade manager of Nutriment. “This is the first time it’s been on a Sunday and I think it’s really paid off. There are a lot more independents and pet boutiques that we haven’t really had access to until now. It’s been a great show and it’s only the first day.”

Inspired Pet Nutrition were the first company to book a stand with PATS in 2009 under the Wagg brand and have been attending ever since. Trade sales director Ben Anderson said: ‘”Wow, this year’s show has been brilliant so far. Moving the show to a Sunday has certainly brought out the independent retailers and added a new dimension to an already successful event.”

The show is also attracting lots of international interest. Belgian exhibitors Coucour brought their new Himalyan cheese dog snack to the UK market, and sales manager Jorge Aguilera said: “Congratulations to PATS. Your show is fantastic – we were just at a Paris show a month ago and in comparison the organisation here is so smooth. We’ve had a very enjoyable day.”

The first day of the show also got the thumbs-up from visiting retailers.

Laura Palmer, of Mutleys Pet Supplies, Swaffham, Norfolk, has been attending PATS exhibitions for nine years and she felt this year’s show had been the busiest. “There are lots of new exhibitors and a great variety of products being launched on to the market. As a retailer you must be here,” commented Laura.

And Susan Lynn, who is setting up a boutique pet shop in Hampshire, said: “This is an excellent show. We’re here sourcing unique items we might want to stock and there’s a great variety of specialist products, which is just what we were looking for.”

Garden centre buyers were also impressed with the first day of the show, with Planters of Tamworth’s Josh Winter saying: “It has been a fantastic day and well worth the trip down from the Midlands. I’m really impressed with all the new products being showcased.”

Grooming demonstrations and workshops returned to PATS Sandown after a two-year absence and created quite a buzz in the Esher Hall. Dog groomer Francis Worth of K9 Nanny, Epsom, commented: “This is my first visit to the show and I’m very impressed with the organisation and quality of the exhibitors. I’d give this exhibition a 5-star rating.”

Scientist creates honey product to tackle cancer in pets
Dr Nash Glyco Health (stand M18 Surrey Hall)

A natural honey compound sourced from a variety of a Mediterranean plant that only grows in the mild wet conditions of west Wales and Ireland is helping pets diagnosed with cancer.

Scientist Dr Robert Nash has provided his ground-breaking IminoHoney to dog and cat owners who report that it can either cure animals given terminal cancer diagnoses or greatly extend happy and active life.

IminoHoney is a 100% natural honey product sourced in the UK and containing an extremely rare iminosugar compound also found in the Mediterranean plant when grown in Aberystwyth but not in the Mediterranean.

The honey is naturally rich in a small and unusual molecule with very specific activity that appears to aid wound healing and boosts a weak immunity when it is given in food or applied topically to tumours.

A number of vets and animals around the world have trialled the treatment, which costs £59.99 for a pack of ten sachets, with impressive results.

Dr Nash’s work focuses on the development of new pharmaceutical medicines based on natural iminosugars for inflammatory disorders, diabetes and cancer.

Dr Nash, whose company is based in Aberystwyth, said: “Science is the key to our product range. Sugars or carbohydrates are vital to health in many ways and faults in sugar biochemistry occur in most diseases and in ageing.

“As animals age they typically have weaker immune responses which makes them more prone to various infections and diseases and for cancerous cells to take hold.

“We’re seeing that iminosugars have the remarkable ability to correct many of these errors and to restore a youthful balance.

“The compound only needs to be taken once every two to four days and old dogs with untreatable tumours – and probably defective and ageing immune responses – appear to give particularly encouraging results.

“Honey is well-known in traditional medicine for wound healing as bacteria cannot grow in such high sugar concentrations. But, typically, honey only works when applied to the wound.

“IminoHoney for pets is unique in giving an improved quality of life in terminal cancer and also seems to aid recovery from surgery.

“I’m delighted with some of the incredible results we are seeing in pets.”

Dr Nash is producing a range of products derived from his iminosugar research including a product launching in America for osteo-arthritis and a European product to treat diabetes.

Holistic cancer vet Dr Birgit Ahlemeyer from Sussex has been using IminoHoney in combination with her other treatments. She said: “I am passionate about treating animals with the most appropriate therapy or combination of therapies in order to improve their health and quality of life.

“I love that this honey is a natural product and I really believe that it can give an immunity boost to a sick animal.”

Case study

Medical herbalist Anita Myatt has been treating her 10-year-old English Bull Terrier, called Chubby, with Iminohoney for the past 12 months after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Anita, who lives on a croft on the Isle of Skye with her husband Simon Larson, a photographer, said: “Chubby was diagnosed with cancer after he started developing tumours on his body.

“I’ve lost count of how many operations he had but, this time last year, we were told there was nothing else that could be done to help him.

“We knew he was getting upset too because he had started to get quite aggressive and was afraid of going to the vets.

“As a medical herbalist I champion natural medicines so when I heard about Iminohoney I wanted to try it.

“Within four weeks of taking the honey every three days in his food I could see a difference.

“The tumours stopped growing, his coat regained its shine and his skin returned to a healthy colour. Chubby suddenly had more bounce to him.

“I’ve kept in touch with his oncologist and he is surprised that he is still with us. In fact, it’s arthritis – and not cancer – that is his issue today and I’m treating that with a cucumber extract.

“Everyone thinks Chubby is a wonder dog. I’m just so happy that something as simple and natural as honey has given my lovely dog a new life.”

Other case studies

  • A 13-year-old black Labrador from Aberystwyth, called Holly, developed lumps on her lower lip which the vet expected would quickly spread to her lungs. Instead of surgery or chemotherapy, Holly’s owner Hazel gave her Iminohoney in her food every three days for six weeks. The lumps cleared, never came back, and Holly had a further 18 months of active life before developing arthritis. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzON_V7gyFg
  • Ole Blue, a 12-year-old Tibetan Terrier from Cambridge was diagnosed with a liver tumour the size of a golf ball and secondary tumours in the lungs. The vet recommended he was put down. After taking Iminohoney all his symptoms such as general malaise and loss of bladder control went and he lived more than another year in good health before dying of old age. His owner David said: “He immediately responded to the honey. Ten minutes after taking it he was acting like a puppy.”
  • Bolly, a Husky Malamute from Lincolnshire started taking Iminohoney three times a week with his breakfast after cancer surgery which had discovered secondaries not removed. His owner Alison said: “The treatment helped Bolly’s wound to heal, prevented him stiffening up in the evenings and stopped an upset tummy. He is bouncing around and seems a much happier dog. I now swear by this honey, I think it is brilliant, and have used it on my cat after he got an infected cat bite.” Bolly was given the all clear at a six month check-up.
  • A vet in Essex has been trialling Iminohoney on four older dogs all with tumours and has noticed an improvement in general wellbeing in all of them. None of the tumours have grown any further. She said: “One dog is even doing things it hadn’t done for a while, like chasing squirrels.”

Inspired Pet Nutrition, the UK’s largest independent producer of dry pet food, is set to grab a slice of the UK’s fast growing wet dog food sector with the launch of a range under the Wagg brand.

Wagg is already the branded market leader by volume in the dry dog sector with a 24% market share and last September unveiled new packaging as part of a major £500,000 re-launch.

This will be its first venture into the wet food sector where growth is being driven by the plastic tray format with overall branded annual sales more than doubling to over £24 million in the past two years.

There are four flavours in the new range – salmon, chicken, beef and turkey – available in 390gm trays.

The trays will be an addition to the VAT-free Wagg Worker range.

The first three flavours will be on shelf in Morrisons twith an rsp of 90p. Further listings in the multiples are planned along with a roll-out to retail channels in the pet trade.

Chris Wragg, marketing director at IPN, said: “This exciting new range is a result of both innovation and manufacturing expertise, combined with probably the most well-invested pet food business in the UK.

"Some £14 million has been invested in new facilities in North Wales and the launch expands the Wagg proposition of ‘no nonsense, great quality and value’ into the fast growing tray sector of the wet market.”

Host of exciting new products from Henry Wag
3P Enterprise (stand M5 Surrey Hall)

Spring 2019 will see a burst of new products launched by Henry Wag. The products were first unveiled at BETA International in January and are now being presented for the first time to the pet industry at PATS Sandown.

Spring 2019 will see a burst of new products launched by Henry Wag. The lifestyle brand conceived and designed by Grant Rogers will build on its range focusing on improving the health and well being of pets by removing the barriers to a more healthy active life.

The products were first unveiled at BETA International in January and are now being presented for the first time to the pet industry at PATS Sandown.

The range of Henry Wag travel products will grow with the addition of two travel beds, the Travel Snuggle and the Multimat, both giving dogs a place to rest on days out or a target sleeping area when travelling.

Also, for the travellers, Henry Wag has added to the range, collapsible travel bowls to aid hydration after exercise, and a Training Treat bag to aid recall, discipline and with space for poo bags. Later in the year will see the launch of a dog Travel Harness for use in car and in conjunction with the range of seat protection products already available under the Henry Wag brand.

There are additions to the Microfibre drying range with the launch of the Noodle Glove Towel and a range of a dog drying coats in 5 sizes designed for use after wet walks to help owners reduce the effects of dirty wet dogs on car and home interiors.

For the first time 2019 will see Henry Wag expand into the equine market. The technical microfibre material used to achieve high levels of cleaning and absorbency to remove dirt and water from a dog’s coat has been used to develop a range of towels for the Equine market to help remove dirt and water from horses after exercise or washing.

The products are ideal for use after wet, muddy rides or at events to reduce the risks of infection and sores. They can be used to dry around ears and eyes. User trialists have commented that the noodle towel is great for cleaning sweat after removing the saddle and bringing a sheen to the coat before auctions. The soft noodles do not pull the hair and give a silky sheen to the coat.

All these products and more can be seen at the Henry Wag Stand M5 at PATS Sandown.

World’s most hygienic germ-busting dog food bowl
HOWND (stand S10 Esher Hall)

Once again at the forefront of product innovation, HOWND, the multi-award winning pet care brand has launched a ground-breaking antimicrobial dog bowl...

Once again at the forefront of product innovation, HOWND, the multi-award winning pet care brand has launched a ground-breaking antimicrobial dog bowl.

Guaranteed to resist the growth of over 99% of MRSA and E.Coli bacteria, the innovative Hero Bowl’s built-in proven smart silver ion technology gives unparalleled 24-hour antimicrobial protection for dog food and water bowls and is set to be the most hygienic dog bowl on the market.

The HERO BOWL is the ideal solution for health-conscious pet owners, vet surgeries, kennels, grooming salons and anywhere cross contamination might occur. It is scientifically proven to also prevent the growth of over 99% of microbes, including bacteria, mould and fungi. It is made from recyclable polypropylene.

There’s some clever science behind the design of this bowl. HOWND has partnered with BioCote® - a world leader in antimicrobial technology - to create a pet food and water bowl that will give antimicrobial protection guaranteed for 25 years even if scratched or chewed.  The BioCote silver ion protection will last for the lifetime of the bowl as it is embedded into the product, so it cannot wash off or wear away.

Studies have shown that 67% of dog bowls coming out of the dishwasher still have Salmonella present on their surfaces*. A superior alternative to a stainless steel, ceramic and other unprotected surfaces, the HERO Bowl has 24-hour protection since the technology works constantly to reduce microbes by up to 99.99% on the protected surface.

Although all pet bowls should be cleaned regularly, including the HERO Bowl, the effects of cleaning are short lived and once they have worn off, an unprotected bowl is subject to recontamination, leaving bacteria to thrive unchecked until the next clean.

With an ergonomic design for easy feeding, the bowl has a non-slip base, is dishwasher safe and available in 2 sizes in a range of on-trend colours: Urban Grey, Raspberry Rose, Lavender Blush, Ocean Blue and Spring Green.

Small Bowl 18cm, RRP 17.95. Trade £8.75 + VAT. Large Bowl 23cm, RRP £21.95 Trade £10.50+ VAT.

With distinctive branded packaging and informative visuals, the HERO BOWL has great shelf appeal and will be available to order from Pedigree Wholesale and at PATS Sandown from HOWND stand S10, Esher Hall.

Spend over £250 across all HOWND ranges at PATS Sandown to receive a 15% show discount.

Award-winning pet food arrives in the UK
Josera (stand T16 Esher Hall)

Josera Youngstar Grain-Free Puppy Food, which is beeing showcased before UK retailers at PATS Sandown, has won the ÖKO-TEST Award, which is Germany's equivalent to Which? magazine.

öKO-TEST is Germany’s most prestigious consumer advice magazine. Started by leading consumer journalists in 1985 it has a strong emphasis on consumer safety and health.

All products are tested by independent labs and reviewed solely based on their effects on health and the environment. Both natural and mainstream products are tested, so they’re all on a level playing field.

Owners of a new puppy are understandably anxious about feeding their fur baby, so it is good news that grain free YoungStar by Josera was rated “excellent” by OKO-TEST.

Tested against 11 other puppy foods, YoungStar was praised by the magazine for its ingredients – especially the valuable omega-3 fatty acid DHA derived from algae.

Studies show that the trainability of young dogs is better if they have received DHA in early puppyhood. YoungStar is carefully made without undesirable ingredients such as soy, wheat, artificial colourants or contaminants such as glyphosate, some of which were detected in tested foods from other manufacturers.

.

JOSERA YoungStar is a natural, grain-free and easily digestible puppy food with tasty poultry meat and is suitable for young dogs from their 8th week.

A balanced calcium-phosphorus ratio and vitamin C as well as manganese and copper in an easily absorbable (organically chelated) form support a strong bone structure and healthy joints.

JOSERA YoungStar is particularly suited to dogs that require grain-free nutrition and have normal levels of activity.

Bestpets has launched new consumer facing collateral to help its Bestpets Local Retail Club customers to drive sales and to help suppliers raise awareness of their products among consumers.

The new collateral includes a resized monthly consumer flyer, new shelf edge labels and redesigned A3 posters. Launched for the Bestpets January 2019 promotional cycle, the redesign has enabled the national pet wholesaler to add an extra promotion to each of its 12 annual promotional periods.

The most significant and beneficial changes to the flyer are:

  • The flyer has been resized to a single-fold A4 design, perfect for posting to consumers and with a much more convenient layout when compared to the previous square flyer which had a double-sided gatefold advert that consumers had to fold out to read the deals
  • The new format 4-page flyer now includes extra space for supplier adverts, to support new product launches and brand building
  • Each monthly flyer can now support a 15th, stand-out Premium Promotion, with a specific space designed for editorial coverage to outline the product features and benefits to consumers
  • The flyer has been rebranded with stand-out background (alternating every other month between yellow & blue) and red roundels to highlight the promotional price for each product; a colour combination known to give good value perception.

The new A3 posters and shelf edge labels have also had the same redesign applied as the flyer, providing extra space for more promotions and using red and yellow & blue as the stand-out colours to improve value perception among consumers.

Peter Brame, Director of Trading - Pet, said: “Our Bespets Local Retail Club is designed to help drive footfall, increase profit and raise the profile of independent pet stores through keen promotions and impactful Point of Sale.

“We are always listening to customer feedback and looking for new ways to develop the Retail Club offer. This redesign has been about improving the value proposition our retail customers can offer consumers, by increasing the number of deals advertised in our monthly promotions and using the most value-creating colours.

“A simple change like this can have a great impact for customer sales and also supports our suppliers with more space for promotions and a special monthly feature to highlight product features and benefits for one leading deal.”

Tony Charlton, of Tony’s Pet & Garden Supplies in South Shields ,added: “Consumers like the red pricing as it stands out. The posters are bright and stand out overall too - they catch the eye of customers passing by and are easy on the eye.’”

The new collateral is available to all Bespets Local Retail Club customers via the Bestpets website or their local depot.

Sustainable dog food set to revolutionise pet market
Yora (stand G7 Surrey Hall)

A trailblazing new dog food - believed to be the most sustainable ever - is set to revolutionise the pet food market when it launches this month. Made of nutritious insect protein combined with oats, potato and natural botanicals, Yora is a healthy new dog food that contains no growth hormones or antibiotics.

Globally, pets consume around 20% of the world’s meat and fish, which is set to grow further with the trend for feeding human grade meat to dogs and cats.

For years, environmental experts have proposed insects as the food source that can end world hunger without harming the planet. Insects are unbelievably nutritious - packed with essential proteins, fats, minerals and amino acids - and are even easier to digest than chicken, so they’re perfect for pets with sensitive tummies.

Livestock farming contributes 18% of human produced greenhouse gas emissions worldwide and pet food consumption is responsible for up to 64 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.

Insects use a fraction of the resources to farm and Yora’s grubs are reared in a brand new, high tech £18 million facility in Holland. The grubs are extremely efficient and even consume recycled vegetable matter that would otherwise go uneaten.

When compared to beef farming, Yora’s grubs need just 2% of the land and 4% of the water to produce each kg of protein, which means they cause 96% less greenhouse emissions. The insects grow naturally at a rapid pace, reaching full size in just 14 days, so there’s no need for growth hormones or antibiotics.

The insect protein in Yora also offers a higher quality protein than the by-products found in most pet foods. Yora features nutritious ingredients like kale, seaweed and chicory which all have added benefits for dogs including Vitamin C, improved digestion and anti-inflammatory properties.

Yora is supported by a team of veterinary experts including TV vet Dr. Rory Cowlam who said: “Yora provides a healthy, high protein alternative to conventional kibble.  It’s hypoallergenic, and free from antibiotics and growth hormones. Pets love the taste - plus it’s great for the planet.

“As a keen conservationist and dog lover, I am incredibly excited by the enormous potential for this dog food to reduce our pets’ collective carbon pawprint.”

Tom Neish (above), founder of Yora, comments: “Animals and humans have been eating insects for over five million years and we believe Yora is the future of pet food. We have trialled 29 recipes to find the perfect combination of great tasting ingredients and are very proud of the end result.

“Yora enables dog owners to take the lead in giving their dog a nutritious, tasty food whilst having a positive impact on the environment.”

Available from major pet stores in the UK in January, Yora will cost £14.99 per 1.5kg bag (£1.80 per day) or £49.99 per 6kg bag (£1.49 per day). To find out more, visit the website, search #TakeOurLead

Lintbells wis showcasing its Mobility Matters campaign at PATS Sandown on stand K13. Data from the Royal Veterinary College suggests that 15% of all cases presented at vet practices have musculoskeletal problems and joint stiffness is very common, especially in older dogs. The ‘Gold Standard’ for many of these pets is to take a multimodal approach, using many different techniques to help them maintain or regain mobility and live a happier life.

The Mobility Matters support material is available to retailers free of charge and supports outlets to offer a value-added service to people who own dogs with stiff joints or reduced mobility. The pack includes materials that help pet owners better understand their pet’s joint health and materials for retailers to signpost the support they can offer.

Gemma Cunningham, YuMOVE Brand Manager says there is a lot that retailers can do to help these pets, “Adapting the environment is essential – simple changes such as making sure they have a softer or lower bed, introducing toys that encourage gentle exercise without overdoing it and quality foods that help them achieve an ideal weight, can all make a big difference YuMOVE Dog provides high levels of Omega 3 EFAs to support stiff joints and when given alongside all these other things offers significant benefits to the pet. We wanted to ensure that retailers were given the tools that would help them make effective recommendations and to improve welfare”.

To complement the offer, delegates can also hear Lintbells Key Opinion Leader & Strategic Partners Manager, Adam Crisford’s thoughts on osteoarthritis in dogs and how retailers can support these customers. He will be delivering a seminar at 3 pm on 10th February entitled: ‘He’s just slowing down’ how to improve your customers pets’ quality of life living with osteoarthritis’.

Fish4Dogs appoints new wholesale partner
Fish4Dogs (stand stand B8 Surrey Hall)

Fish4Dogs has announced a new wholesale distribution partnership with Trust Pet Products in an exclusive arrangement for the UK which focuses on providing enhanced opportunities for independent retailers to sell the full range of healthy food and treats from Fish4Dogs Ltd...

Fish4Dogs has announced a new wholesale distribution partnership with Trust Pet Products in an exclusive arrangement for the UK which focuses on providing enhanced opportunities for independent retailers to sell the full range of healthy food and treats from Fish4Dogs Ltd.

The move is seen as a “great fit” for both companies as both invest in the development of customer relationships with independent pet shop owners.

Both companies benefit from being based in the Midlands – Fish4Dogs in Worcestershire and Trust Pet in neighbouring Warwickshire - meaning that they can work closely together and use their location at the ‘heart of England’ to ensure swift and steady supply across the UK.

Graham Smith, CEO of Fish4Dogs, said: “We are delighted to be entering into a new partnership with Trust Pet at a key time in our business growth. This is a very exiting year for us with lots of changes ahead which will put our brand in the spotlight”

“We are not a grocery brand and have no strategic intention to be one, finding a first-class distribution partner with established relationships and shared values is a major part of our decision to work with Trust Pet in the speciality pet sector”.

Said Andrew Clarke, General Manager of Trust Pet Products: “We are very excited to be partnering with Fish4Dogs as its wholesale distribution partner. Trust Pet Products is a family business and always try to put the customer first, an ethos that we most definitely share with Fish4Dogs. We pride ourselves on knowing our customers by name, what products they have previously ordered and making them feel valued.

“We look forward to sharing the entire range of Fish4Dogs and Fish4Cats products with them.”

Trust Pet Products was established over 45 years ago and has steadily established itself as a leading pet trade wholesaler supplying a vast range of pet food and accessories. It places a keen emphasis on customer service with dedicated telesales, warehouse and distribution teams whose focus is on meeting customer requirements.

Its flexible working arrangements allow indepentent retailers to ‘mix and match’ brands – calling off a variety of products in small quantities if required which will extend the reach of the Fish4Dogs and Fish4Cats brands – allowing them to be bought in even more pet shops across the country.

Fish4Dogs will be discussing the new partnership with its customers at PATS Sandown at stand B8.

Fish4Dogs goes bananas with new addition to range
Fish4Dogs (stand B8 Surrey)

Fish4Dogs is going bananas about bananas with a fruity new addition to its popular range of fish-wrapped treats...

Fish4Dogs is going bananas about bananas with a fruity new addition to its popular range of fish-wrapped treats.

Banana Wraps - available later this month (15 Feburary) - are delicious treats made from dry banana slices wrapped in fish skins.

The inclusion of banana came about by popular demand - voted for by Fish4Dogs customers in a “most wanted” list of ingrediants that they were keen to see used in future products.

Dogs have a sweet tooth, so Fish4Dogs Banana Wrap Treats will be the perfect guilt-free treat to satisfy a dog’s taste buds. They have a lovely crunchy texture and are without ‘hidden nasties’.  They contain 62 per cent banana and 38 per cent fish skin, are a gluten-free, grain-free recipe with no added artificual preservatives or colourings.

Authenticity is all-important to Fish4Dogs, so it is appropriate that the Banana Wraps campaign is being fronted by Star – a Collie cross owned by Customer Service Advisor Jill Aston. Star is a regular in the Fish4Dogs office and is relishing her role as ‘chief taster’ for Banana Wraps.

The addition to the range – which joins Sea Wraps with sweet potato and Sweet Ocean Wraps – with apple - comes in 100g bags with a RRP of £4.50.

They are being showcased to trade at PATS Sandown show (10-11 February) and will be on direct sale to customers in March. Fish4Dogs can be found at stand B8.

Said Head of Marketing Jo Little: “Last year, we asked our customers which fruity alternative they thought their dogs would enjoy. A whopping 40 per cent chose banana and so, we developed Banana Wraps, which are a fantastic addition to our sea wraps range and provide a delightfully crunchy way to treat your dogs while sating their desire for something sweet.”

Charlie & Co Naturals was founded by Margo and Shirin Valipour, a key naturals specialist and dog lover. The shampoo was formulated for Shirin’s dog Charlie four years ago as Charlie had skin allergies due to an immunity condition. It helped heal Charlie’s skin and make her coat shiny.

The dog shampoo will be available from April with a RRP £14 (400ml).

You’ll be able to find Charlie & Co Naturals on stand R3 at PATS Sandown.

Beaphar UK has returned to PATS Sandown with lots of exciting things for retailers, including the chance to earn 8 CPD points, including the chance to earn eight CPD points during and  interactive seminar will focus on Parasite Control and Prevention by the company's Georgina Shrimpton...

Beaphar UK has returned to PATS Sandown with lots of exciting things for retailers; the UK launch of their new branding, a chance to win a range of their fabulous new products, and their return to the PATS seminar stage, with this year’s presentation offering SQPs the opportunity to earn 8 CPD points.

Presented by Georgina Shrimpton RVN, Beaphar’s Technical Support Executive, the interactive seminar will focus on Parasite Control and Prevention. As a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a wealth of hands on experience, Georgina is the ideal choice to lead this seminar, having personally encountered the kinds of questions pet-owners may have about parasites on a day-to-day basis in practice.

Centring on fleas, ticks and worms, the seminar will provide attendees with an in-depth look at these parasites, as well as give information on dealing with perceived inefficacy/product failure and the safe supply of medicines.

Georgina said, “I’m really excited to be speaking at PATS Sandown 2019. A key part of my role at Beaphar is making sure we deliver the most informative and up-to-date information to our customers and everyone that works in the pet industry, so that they can pass this on to pet-owners.

“This was one of the key reasons behind reviewing the seminar content from last year, and I am delighted that in doing so we can not only offer a seminar that is more informative, but one that is now worth 8 CPD points.”

PATS Sandown 2019 is also the setting of the UK launch of Beaphar’s new branding, which was first revealed to the pet trade at Interzoo 2018.
Dr Sue Huggett, UK Business Manager, Beaphar UK, said: “PATS is the highlight of the UK pet trade calendar, so there is no better place to launch our new branding and exciting new product ranges to our customers.

“The new branding is eye-catching, attention grabbing and more emotionally appealing to pet-owners. Our new Beaphar CatComfort® range is a great example of this, and the show will be a good opportunity for all PATS visitors to visit our stand and see for themselves just how impactful the new Beaphar branding can be in their store.

“Our visitors will also have the opportunity to win a fully stocked Beaphar CatComfort® CDU worth £180 and a £100 Gourmet Guide voucher, which can be put towards dinner for two at a restaurant of their choice.”

Dr Huggett concluded: “PATS Sandown 2019 will be Beaphar’s most exciting to date, so we hope customers, both current and new, will come along and say ‘hello’. We very much look forward to seeing you there.”

Beaphar’s seminar, Parasite Control and Prevention, is being held at 11.10am on Sunday 10th February and 11.50am on Monday 11th February. To attend Beaphar’s seminar and PATS Sandown, make sure you register on the PATS website.

For further information about Beaphar’s training or product range, our new branding or to enter our competition, please visit the Beaphar stand - F13 - during the show.

TICKLESS (stand H2 Surrey)

TICKLESS introduces the new generation of ultrasonic flea and tick repellent at the PATS Sandown.

The TICKLESS device emits a series of ultrasonic pulses that are imperceptible to humans, pets or wildlife, but interfere with the ability of ticks and fleas to orient themselves.

Environmentally friendly, contains no chemicals or fragrances, making it perfectly safe to use for everyone.

The TICKLESS technology underwent rigorous testing and was proven effective by a clinical study at the University of Camerino, Italy.

The TICKLESS Pet keeps ticks and fleas away without the use of dangerous chemicals. By fastening the easy-to-use, tiny device onto your cat or dog’s collar, parasites can be kept away for up to 6-12 months after activation, leaving you and your pet free to enjoy nature.

New product, the TICKLESS Mini, is aimed for small dog breeds while TICKLESS Cat is the company’s first-ever device particularly aimed for our feline friends. Both models are are also rechargeable.

“TICKLESS Cat and Mini represent the new generation of ultrasonic flea and tick protection. It’s stronger, more effective yet this is the smallest ultrasonic repeller on the market today,” said Mr. Daniel Kiss, CEO and owner of the TICKLESS brand.

“We have been doing a lot of research within the pet industry and realised that owners are really worried about toxics in such repellent products. TICKLESS contains no chemicals or fragrances, making it perfectly safe to use for pets and humans alike.”

Dogs for Good became PATS’ chosen charity in 2018 and were given great receptions at both the Sandown and Telford shows.

As well as collecting donations during the exhibitions, the charity will be given items from the New Product Showcase after the show to use as competition prizes at their many events.
