Sharples 'n' Grant returns to private UK ownership

A share transfer transaction which took place earlier this month has seen Sharples 'n 'Grant return to being a privately-owned UK business, and is no longer part of the Karlie Group GmbH.

In 2012, European entity Karlie Group GmbH acquired a majority stake in Sharples 'n 'Grant. But the past few years have been a challenging period for the Karlie Group of companies and a restructure of the Group is now necessary.

All shareholding in Sharples 'n' Grant Ltd that was acquired by Karlie Group GmbH has now been transferred.

In a statement, Bryan Sharples said: "‘We are looking forward to the opportunity of re-establishing a great company with a great history.

"We have the team in place to drive forwards and a secure strategy for the future. We are now moving forwards with great enthusiasm."

Karlie Group GmbH is an iinternational wholesaler of pet food and supplies and operates across Europe, but its holding company, Flamingo Holding Belgium B.V.B.A., was declared bankrupt three weeks ago. It is uncertain if a serious negative impact on the financial situation of Karlie Group GmbH is to be expected.
