Flooded pet store in Tring finally reopens

A pet store in Tring, Hertfordshire, that suffered nearly £40,000 worth of damage due to a flood is back open for business.
Gosford Pets, based in Tring High Street, had been closed since early February after a burst water pipe from a flat above the shop caused widespread damage.
Owner Lauren Saunders held an open day to welcome shoppers back to the store, which sells pet accessories and a small number of animals.
The shop, which was only purchased by Lauren back in November, has had a big refurbishment by builders over the last month so that it could quickly open again.
Lauren said: “It’s a really big relief to be opening again.
“It was absolutely amazing to welcome customers back, and the feedback we’ve had about the new look has been really good. A few of them were saying the flood had done us a favour.
“We’ve had a lot of support from the people in Tring and they’ve sent us some nice messages. Everyone has been really lovely to us.”
Hertford Shelving played a big role in fitting out the new-look store and Steve Lodge said: “I would like to thank Lauren and Chloe of Gosford Pets and Grooming for awarding them the refurbishment works after their pet shop was forced to close due to a flood from the premises above and we wish them all the best for the future."
The shop raised more than £200 for the Chilterns Dog Rescue and Rennie Grove Hospice Care charities at the open day.
