Homewares show launches dedicated pet cat-egory

INDX Homewares is set to debut a new dedicated pets section at its upcoming show on February 21-22.

The launch of a new dedicated category for pets has been created in response to growing market demand. Post-pandemic, the share of households owning a pet has grown from c40% to c62%, bringing the value of the UK Pet Care Market to £6.7 billion as of 2021.

Rachel Breen, Head of Homewares at AIS, said: “As the UK’s leading buying group, we have kept our finger on the pulse of consumer trends over the past few years. This includes a significant increase in the number of households owning a pet, which in turn presents an opportunity for independent retailers.

“For this reason, we will be introducing a new dedicated pet section at our February homewares show, in order to help cater for and support all independent retailers looking to seize this opportunity, whether old or new.”

INDX Homewares’ pets section will be housed in a dedicated room at Cranmore Park, and will welcome exhibitors working across a variety of pet-related goods, including beds, accessories, toys, walking equipment, bowls, treats and grooming.

A number of leading brands have already confirmed their attendance, including Scruffs, Tres Paws, Long Paws, Denzels and Danish Design.

The show will also include a daily ‘Dog Walk’ to showcase products with goodie bags for participants, a ‘Pose with the Pooch’ photo activity, and supplier giveaways.

Rachel concluded: “We are thrilled to invite both brands and buyers alike to experience our new dedicated pet category at INDX Homewares. No effort has been spared in the creation of the UK’s most focused buying environment for independent pet retailers, and we look forward to seeing what new relationships and business opportunities will be born out of the show.”

INDX Homewares is organised by Associated Independent Stores (AIS), the UK's top buying group for fashion, home, and leisure.

Held at West Midlands exhibition centre, Cranmore Park, on 21-22 February 2023, INDX Homewares attracts department stores, category specialists, high street retailers, boutiques, garden centres, and e-tailers.
