On the evening of May 23rd at Hartpury Arena, 5* event rider Simon Grieve, together with his 3* horse, Autograf, will literally be turned inside out to show skeletal and muscular anatomy in jumping action as they take part in the Horses Inside Out Evening Extravaganza.
This is a unique opportunity for equestrians to learn more about applied anatomy and techniques and exercises for improving training, longevity, and performance.
The evening is set to be a truly world class event with Olympic Dressage rider, Laura Tomlinson, riding alongside Simon. It is presented by world leading equine anatomy educator Gillian Higgins who has revolutionised how we look at horses. Her dynamic, enthusiastic presentation style inspires while she has an incredible ability to make the often difficult subject of anatomy fun, applicable, and easy to understand.
“Having known Gillian for over 20 years and being a big fan of her work, I am thrilled to be taking part in this lecture demonstration,” said Simon. “A good understanding of anatomy and biomechanics is one of the largest foundations for good training, longevity, and performance. This is something I try to apply daily in my own riding, but you never stop learning. I'm really excited to help illustrate to everyone Gillian's ethos in the gymnastic jumping section of the evening.”
As a rider, Simon has competed regularly at the top level in eventing for the past 15 years. He has contested 18 5* events (Burghley, Badminton and Pau) as well as winning just shy of 100 national events too. In addition, he competes internationally in pure showjumping and is a consistent winner at 1.40m level nationally. Simon is also a busy BECC level 3 coach and enjoys helping riders of all levels from grassroots right up to Advanced level. In addition, he's a television presenter, working for Horse and Country TV. He has presented numerous programmes including the popular Cobs that Can, Swipe Up Kick On, and From Field to Fitness.
