Profitable pet store can't be sold

Lincolnshire pet shop owner Jim Elliott has admitted he can't sell his profitable business because of the terms of his lease on the premises in Stamford.
Pet Trade Xtra revealed last week that Jim's Pets was closing down to allow the owner to fulfil his dream of travelling around Europe. The story was the best read in Pet Trade Xtra this year.
Jim, aged 24, opened the pet store in North Street in 2009 and has steadily built the business into a profitable concern but has always wanted to travel.
"I love the store and all my animals," said Jim. "I could have easily carried on coming in at weekends and Bank Holidays to feed the animals but then would have probably got to 34 without realising my dream of travelling/.
Newcastle fan Jim is sports mad and intends to visit some of Europe's biggest stadiums like the Bernabeu in Madrid and the Nou Camp in Bercelona during his travels.
"It would have been nice to fund the trip with the proceeds of selling the business but unfrotunately I can't because of my lease agreement," said Jim. "But I've always known that, so it has never entered my thinking.
"Who knows what will happen in the future although I intend to enjoy my travels."
Jim is currently holding a closing down sale.
