National Champion for the fifth time

Aled Owen from Penyfed, Corwen, earned his fifth National Champion title at the Welsh National Sheepdog Trials held at Pen Bedw, Nannerch.

Renowned in the sheepdog world Aled’s huge list of achievements up to this latest win can be seen at https://csjk9blog.com/awaywithdogsseries2/meet-the-a-way-with-dogs-handlers/

With his homebred dog, Llangwm Cap, Aled ran early on the second day of the 3 day event and took the lead with 195 points – closely followed by Kevin Evans, Brecon with a score of 194 points.

Over 130 of the country’s best sheepdogs competed over the 3 days to try and earn one of the top 15 places to make the National Team.

Aled also earned a team place with his other dog, Llangwm Glesni and will now compete in Northern Ireland next month at the International Supreme Championship - Aled has already won this Championship 4 times (the latest being in 2015 when he won with Llangwm Cap) so who knows, maybe he will add a 5th win to his tally in this prestigious event too.
