Seeing the latest pet product launches under one roof is one of the major attractions to PATS visitors, and this September’s show at the NEC Birmingham will be no exception, where a record number of new items will be showcased.
The Pet & Aquatics Trade Show takes place over three days in its new home of Hall 1 at the NEC from Sunday, 28th September, to Tuesday, 30th September 2025.
An impressive line-up of entries to the popular New Product Showcase is a positive sign that PATS exhibitors are excited about their latest products and can’t wait to show them to visiting retailers and buyers.
Products entered into the Showcase, sponsored by pbwnews, will be judged by a panel of independent pet retailers on the first day of the show to decide the winners of the New Product Awards.
“It’s great to see so many companies putting their new products forward,” said PATS event director Gordon Thomas. “I would urge those exhibitors who haven’t entered the Showcase yet to make sure they do so because it’s a not-to-be missed opportunity.
“Speaking to visitors, we know that a lot of them head to the Showcase first. They can view all the latest items in the Showcase, and once they’ve seen what they like, they then head off to the stand of the manufacturer or supplier of that product to discuss it in more detail.”
Exhibitors recognise that winning a New Product Award can certainly increase the profile of the items to the trade.
Company of Animals won a New Product Award at PATS last year with its Halti Anatomy range. “Winning the Award was a fantastic result and testament to our dedication to innovation and quality. It not only validated the hard work of our product development team but also reinforced our commitment to creating solutions that genuinely make a difference for pets and their owners,” said William Wong from Company of Animals.
William added: “The award has become a key part of our promotional strategy for the Halti Anatomy range. Building on the momentum of last year’s win, we’re excited to be showcasing what’s next for the Halti brand at this year’s PATS.”
The Showcase is designed to help visitors find easily the latest and most exciting products to hit the pet trade. There is an information card beside each product, giving details such as suggested retail price and where to find the item’s exhibitor.

The New Product Showcase entries will be displayed under the following nine award categories:
- Cat Accessories & Toys
- Cat Food Products
- Dog Food Products
- Dog Treat Products
- Dog Accessories & Toys
- Dog Harnesses, Leads & Dog Wear
- Small Animal & Bird Products
- Pet Care Products
- Grooming Products
There will also be a New Starter Zone Award plus the Aquatics Zone will have its own New Product Showcase consisting of three categories – indoor, outdoor and reptile.
With so many new products on show and more than 400 exhibitors attending PATS this year, the exhibition is set to draw an equally impressive amount of visitors.
A full and up-to-date list of exhibitors is available on the website www.patshow.co.uk together with information on how to reach the venue and regularly updated show news.

“A big thank you to everyone who visited our stand in 2024, and we look forward to reconnecting with you at the 2025 show. We will be unveiling our latest showcase product for 2025, which we have successfully developed and tested over the past year. Could it be our next award-winner? We can’t wait to share it with you.”

PetProov, a Chorley-based startup which uses anti-fraud technology to combat illegal and unethical practices within the pet sector, has recently closed a six-figure angel investment round.
The investment came from a sole angel investor, James Butcher, a serial entrepreneur and business consultant based in the North West. James is also one of Lancashire’s Fhunded Angels, a community of private investors looking specifically for early-stage and high growth investment opportunities in the county.
PetProov, which was co-founded by Garry Clarke and Kate Margolis in 2023, has developed a range of digital tools which identify potential pet scams. These include non-existent animals being listed on websites, pets being sold with undisclosed health problems, misleading descriptions of breeds, and falsified pedigree histories.
To tackle such activities, Petproov has developed a robust, multi-layered vetting system. Verification processes, including government-grade ID checks, biometric security, and financial background analysis, are cross-referenced to generate a risk rating of the pet seller. By using the PetProov app, and for a small fee, customers can quickly and easily access such risk ratings, and make an informed decision before moving forward with any purchase.
Petproov’s AI-driven technology can further be utilised by breeders and pet listing sites to identify potentially fraudulent owners, while animal shelters can apply the same checks to screen-out unsuitable adopters.
The company – which also has brokered commercial partnerships with several leading pet businesses partners including Beco, Napo, Scooch, and Maven – will use the angel investment to meet increasing demand for anti-fraud interventions across the UK’s pet sector.
Garry Clarke, PetProov co-founder and CPO, said: “Despite securing investment from several angels last year, we were still seeking additional funding to help us take PetProov to the next level. I also really wanted to keep the business rooted in Lancashire, so I contacted Chorley Council to see if there were any regional support initiatives for startups seeking finance.
“They introduced me to Rory Southworth, from Lancashire County Council’s Fhunded programme, who helped get our proposition in front of the Fhunded Angels, including James. He immediately grasped the magnitude of the problem we’re addressing, and quickly came on board with the remaining funds we were seeking.
“James’ investment provided the final commitment we needed to complete a six-figure round and begin scaling operations. With this funding, we can accelerate the roll-out of the PetProov service, helping us to empower more customers and breeders to tackle the issue of fraudsters and scammers operating throughout the pet market.”
Fhunded Angel James Butcher said: “Fraudulent activities are massively on the rise within pet retail, but a lack of regulation means thousands of people are being scammed without any real recourse to the law. PetProov offers an effective and affordable solution to this problem, and with around one in three listings on pet websites believed to be fake or misleading, the growth potential for the service is immense.
“Both Garry and Kate have previously worked in industries where online fraud is rife, and have proven expertise in the use of sophisticated technologies to combat the problem. That, combined with their passion and commitment to eradicating criminal behaviour and unethical practices from across the pet industry, and supporting animal welfare in the process, made my decision to invest very easy.
“In my view, what the Fhunded Angels programme is doing to actively connect founders with experienced entrepreneurs and investors is not only vital for young businesses like PetProov, but also good for the region’s economy as a whole.”
James’ backing of PetProov is the first investment to come through the Fhunded Angels cohort since the initiative was launched earlier this year. Developed by Lancashire County Council (LCC) as part of a broader early-stage finance support strategy, Fhunded Angels is thought to be the biggest regional angel network in the UK managed by a local authority.
Councillor Brian Moore, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Growth at Lancashire County Council, said: “Helping ambitious local companies like PetProov to scale up is exactly what Fhunded Angels was set up to do. Their introduction to the Fhunded programme via Chorley Council also demonstrates how the county’s wider business support provision is both joined up and effective.”
Rob Binns, chair of Lancashire’s Early-Stage Investment Board, which oversees LCC’s Fhunded programme, said: “The fact Garry and Kate were able to raise the final tranche of angel investment they required without going outside the county is a testament to the impact of our new angel network. I’m also proud that an innovative tech business which aims to protect the public from scams and rip-offs is set to thrive thanks to Lancashire’s investor community.”

Campaigner speaks out against Kennel Club guidance

Sarah Jones, founder of the #DogsInYellow campaign and My Anxious Dog, has issued a public response following guidance from the Kennel Club, advising against the attendance of dogs wearing yellow at licensed canine events...

Sarah Jones, founder of the #DogsInYellow campaign and My Anxious Dog, has issued a public response following guidance from the Kennel Club, advising against the attendance of dogs wearing yellow at licensed canine events.
In its statement, the Kennel Club reminds handlers that they are fully responsible for their dog’s behaviour and welfare and advises that dogs wearing yellow – to indicate anxiety, fear, or the need for space – are not recommended for participation. The guidance suggests these dogs may not be suitable for high-energy, competitive environments and warns that the use of yellow does not mitigate risk or shift responsibility to others.
But for Sarah, this approach risks stigmatising both dogs and owners who are already taking proactive steps to ensure safety and well-being.
“Yellow isn’t about making excuses – it’s about communication,” she says. “Just as the sunflower lanyard helps others recognise hidden disabilities in people, yellow helps the public understand that a dog may need a little space. It’s a simple, respectful way to prevent incidents before they happen.”
Sarah draws important parallels to how we treat humans with mental health needs or neurodivergent conditions:
“We don’t exclude people with PTSD, postnatal depression, autism, or ADHD from everyday experiences because they need support or space. We show compassion. We adapt. Why should it be different for our dogs?”
Her campaign, #DogsInYellow, was inspired by her own dog, Bella – a cocker spaniel who developed anxiety and reactivity after a traumatic start in life. Through the campaign, Sarah Jones has helped thousands of dog owners feel seen, while promoting responsible handling and public awareness.
“Many dogs who wear yellow can safely attend events – with the right planning, spacing, and understanding. To suggest that these dogs don’t belong, simply because of the colour they wear, sends the wrong message. Needing help shouldn’t mean exclusion.”
Sarah is calling on the Kennel Club and the wider dog community to embrace a more inclusive approach – one that balances safety with empathy and reflects the real experiences of modern dog ownership.
“Awareness isn’t a loophole. It’s a lifeline. And no one – human or dog – should be shut out for needing a little extra space.”

Calls for better regulation of pet rescues
An online petition calling for better regulation of pet rescues and welfare centres has been launched. ‘No To Rogue Rescues’ is seeking 100,000 signatures to the petition, forcing a debate in Parliament on the need for licensing and regulation of dog and cat rescues to protect animal welfare.
The campaign, supported by the UK's largest lost and found dog service DogLost, says that many animal rescues across the UK do incredible work – but not all of them are held to the same standards.
There is no clear legal regulation for rescues, which leaves the door open for poor practices, neglect and irresponsible breeding.
The petition, which can be found at https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/718660, has so far been signed by nearly 57,000 people.

The Animal Focused Alliance has announced a new Primary Authority Partnership with the City of London Corporation, strengthening its ability to support pet professionals across England with clear, consistent, and legally assured licensing advice.
This partnership follows the Alliance’s earlier agreement with Monmouthshire County Council in Wales, meaning it now has Primary Authority coverage across most of the UK.
The government backed Primary Authority scheme, allows groups of businesses to receive official, assured advice on regulation from a single local authority. That advice must then be respected by other local councils during inspections and enforcement, reducing confusion, improving standards, and increasing confidence for regulated businesses.
The Animal Focused Alliance’s Primary Authority Partnerships support pet professionals covered by the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations, including home boarders, dog daycares, breeders, and animal exhibits.
With the City of London now acting as its Primary Authority in England, the Alliance is able to provide its members with assured advice on areas such as licensing conditions, inspection readiness, welfare standards, and premises requirements.
Susie Pritchard, Assistant Director at the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre, where the City of London animal health inspectors are based stated: “We are delighted to have agreed a new Primary Authority Partnership with Animal Focused Alliance. This partnership allows us to support members by promoting better regulation and providing consistent advice on all matters relating to animal activity licensing.”
Founder of the Animal Focused Alliance, Vicky Skinner, said: “This second partnership marks a huge step forward. It means our members, wherever they’re based, can now access licensing advice that’s recognised and assured. It brings clarity to licensing, improves welfare, and allows us to support our members through all aspects of the licensing process.”

New plans to address the presence of chemicals from flea and tick treatments in rivers and streams across the UK have been unveiled this week.
The initiative by the Cross-Government Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PiE) Group focuses primarily on two chemicals - fipronil and imidacloprid – commonly used in topical parasite treatments for pets.
These medicines play an essential role in protecting both animal and human health against fleas and ticks, however there are growing concerns around the amount of fipronil and imidacloprid finding its way into UK rivers and lakes.
The new roadmap outlines key actions to reduce levels of flea and tick treatments in the environment while protecting animal welfare - which includes commissioning research to better understand this issue and using this evidence to support an international review of environmental risk assessment guidelines.
The three key stages of the roadmap are:
- Communication and Education (Short Term):
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) will collaborate with veterinary professionals and industry stakeholders to improve pet owner awareness about the appropriate use and disposal of flea and tick treatments.
- Evidence Gathering (Medium Term):
The group will build a comprehensive understanding of the environmental impacts of these chemicals, alongside evaluating potential consequences of changing use patterns on animal and human health. The VMD has commissioned scientific research investigating how these substances enter rivers and streams and is working closely with the Environment Agency to assess the environmental risks they pose.
- Regulatory Actions (Long Term):
Based on the evidence collected, the PiE Group will support a review of international environmental risk assessment guidelines and consider future regulatory approaches to mitigate environmental risks.
Defra Biosecurity Minister, Baroness Hayman said:
"This Government is absolutely committed to restoring nature and reducing harms posed by chemicals in the environment.
"Our new Roadmap will develop a better understanding of the impact of flea and tick treatments on the environment, while recognising these treatments play a vital role in pet and human health."
Abigail Seager, Chief Executive Officer of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), said:
"This roadmap represents an important step forward in ensuring that the benefits of effective parasite control are maintained while taking necessary actions to reduce environmental risks.
"It reflects our commitment to an evidence-based approach, working closely with partners across government to protect both animal health and the environment."
Kelly Short, Environment Agency Chemicals Manager said:
"The launch of this roadmap is an important step in tackling the presence of harmful chemicals like fipronil and imidacloprid in our rivers and streams.
"By improving public awareness, building the evidence base, and working together to assess environmental risks, we can take meaningful action to protect our water environment and the wildlife that depends on it."
The PiE Group brings together key government bodies, including the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), Environment Agency (EA), Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and representatives from devolved administrations in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
This collaborative initiative aims to develop a coordinated strategy to reduce the environmental impact of pharmaceuticals from human, veterinary, agricultural, and non-agricultural sources.

A new pesticide-free parasite solution for poultry, aviary birds and their environments has been launched by animal health specialists, Beaphar.
DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker spray can be used on chickens, aviary birds and their housing, and provides immediate parasite protection for birds and their environment. It is effective against all life-stages of red mites, lice, fleas, ticks and other parasites, providing a useful tool for bird-keepers seeking pesticide-free parasite control.
Red mite (dermanyssus gallinae) is a significant parasite affecting backyard chickens and aviary birds. The mites feed on the blood of birds, causing anaemia, stress and reduced egg-laying in poultry. It can also be involved in the transmission of zoonotic diseases such as salmonellosis and Lyme disease. Red mites can survive for several months without feeding, so once an infestation is established in bird housing, they can be difficult to eradicate.
The innovative formula of Beaphar DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker provides immediate protection against red mites and has been specially formulated to use on poultry, aviary birds, and their environment including chicken coops and cages, unlike most red mite sprays, which can only be used on birds’ housing.
Beaphar DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker offers bird owners an easy-to-use, pesticide-free solution that immobilises all life-stages of red mites. The dimethicone in the spray acts as a ‘sticky trap’, immobilising the parasites and preventing them from feeding, breeding or continuing their lifecycle.
Beaphar DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker also contains aloe vera to help nourish the skin and feathers, and comes in a pump action, low-noise, 500ml spray. It is suitable for use on poultry and aviary birds from 12 weeks old, as well as their housing, giving owners of chicken and aviary birds an effective solution for protecting against parasites without the use of pesticides.
Claire Edmunds, Beaphar Marketing Manager, said: “With pet shops being a top destination for poultry owners*, retailers can play a key role in supporting avian health by providing their customers with advice on health products and biosecurity. Adding DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker to their range means they can meet their customers’ evolving preference and need for pesticide-free parasite control for poultry and aviary birds.”
To help retailers make the most of this addition to their poultry and avian health range, Beaphar have developed a range of marketing materials including digital and social content.
To find out more about Beaphar DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker, retailers can visit: Beaphar DIMETHIcare Mite Blocker or contact their Beaphar Account Manager.

A UK natural pet care brand has stepped in to support rescue animals in Morocco as the country faces growing international condemnation over its treatment of street dogs and cats ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Nature’s Pet, a holistic health company based in the UK, has donated a full range of its wellbeing products to animal welfare advocate Giselle Gruen, who has become a lifeline for many of Morocco’s most vulnerable animals.
The company’s founder, Jason Layton, said he felt compelled to act after hearing about the plight of animals like Tammy, a dog who had three of her paws and her tail cut off, and Milly, a traumatised rescue cat struggling with the aftermath of abuse.
“We were shocked by what’s happening to animals in Morocco. The stories of cruelty are heartbreaking, but also inspiring when you see people like Giselle giving so much of themselves,” Jason said. “We knew we had to help in any way we could, and we’re proud to support the incredible work she’s doing.”
The donation includes a wide range of Nature’s Pet products aimed at helping traumatised animals recover physically and emotionally. One of the animals who has benefited most is Milly the cat, who has been responding well to Mellow Pet, a natural calming remedy designed to reduce stress and anxiety.
Giselle, who lives in Casablanca and cares for a growing number of rescue dogs and cats, said the support from Nature’s Pet has made a real difference.
“Milly is one of the most deeply traumatised animals I’ve cared for,” she said. “Thanks to Mellow Pet, we’ve seen a real change in her, she’s more relaxed, more trusting, and finally starting to come out of her shell. We’re incredibly grateful to Nature’s Pet for stepping in and helping us give these animals a second chance.”
Giselle’s most high-profile rescue is Tammy, a severely mutilated street dog who was found in Casablanca in March. Her case shocked even experienced rescuers. Tammy’s paws and tail had been sliced off, a case so extreme that Giselle struggled to find a vet who could help.
Eventually, she connected with Dr. Loubna Aammar at Agafay Veterinary Clinic in Marrakech, the only vet in Morocco who works with prosthetics. Dr. Aammar agreed to treat Tammy, but only if she could be adopted. Giselle stepped forward.
Funding Tammy’s treatment proved challenging. The IAWPC and UK charity Flori’s Friends pledged £1,000, but the first prosthetic and professional care alone cost £2,923.50. Undeterred, Giselle launched a grassroots fundraiser with help from local businesses and supporters, and met the target.
Tammy is now undergoing treatment in Marrakech, where she is adapting to her first custom-built prosthetic. If she responds well, a second may be required in future.
Giselle said the support she has received, from sponsors to cupcake bakers, has been overwhelming. “Tammy’s case is a symbol of both the suffering and the hope we’re seeing here. We saved her just before the section of UMPA she was in was bulldozed by the authorities. Had we waited, she would have been homeless and hopeless,” she said.
As Morocco faces growing international scrutiny over the mass culling of street dogs ahead of the World Cup, stories like Tammy’s and Milly’s have become a rallying point for campaigners.
Jason Layton added, “We hope this small gesture helps raise awareness and brings comfort to these amazing animals. Every life matters, and brands like ours have a responsibility to step up when we can.”

A leading independent retailers association has backed the government's move to hold online marketplaces to the same high standards as high street shops, following Royal Assent of the Product Regulation and Metrology Act.
The British Independent Retailers Association (Bira), which represents over 6,000 independent businesses across the UK, supported the PRAM Act, which will create new powers to target emerging dangers and hold online marketplaces accountable for dangerous products sold through their platforms, creating a level playing field with bricks and mortar stores.
Andrew Goodacre, CEO of Bira, said: "For far too long, online shopping for electrical and electronic items has been a dangerous lottery in terms of product safety, putting customers unnecessarily at risk. Our independent retailers have always been held to rigorous safety standards, whilst online marketplaces have operated with little accountability for the dangerous products sold through their platforms. This new Act levels the playing field and ensures consumer safety is paramount, whether shopping online or on the high street."
Mr Goodacre added: "Whilst we welcome increased consumer education about product safety, the strongest message we can give to shoppers is this: if you want to be truly confident about product quality and safety - especially for items like electric bikes and lithium batteries - buy from your trusted local high street retailer."
The new Act will require online marketplaces to prevent unsafe products reaching consumers, ensure sellers comply with safety obligations, and cooperate closely with regulators. Bira's members, who operate under strict codes of practice and regulatory oversight, provide consumers with the assurance that comes from dealing with established, accountable businesses.
The legislation comes at a critical time, with the Office for Product Safety and Standards reporting 211 fires involving e-bikes or e-scooters in 2024 alone - equivalent to a fire every 1.7 days, many caused by unsafe lithium-ion batteries purchased through online marketplaces.
The Product Regulation and Metrology Act was announced on 21st July and will provide clarity for approximately 300,000 UK businesses operating in regulated product markets, supporting both consumer protection and economic growth across Britain's high streets.
Bira supports, advises and lobbies on behalf of all independent businesses in the UK, from local DIY and hardware stores to health stores, cafes and eateries, fashion retailers, department stores, electrical shops, cycle retailers and more.

A South London pet shop, which has been running for over 60 years, is set to close next month, blaming rising costs and a growth in shoplifting for its demise.
Dabners Pet Shop in Croydon has served generations of pet owners in the area but with increasing financial pressures the owners have now decided to call it a day.
Company director Mark Oram said: “It gives me great sadness to inform you all that the Dabners website will close immediately and the 60-year-old Dabners pet shop in Surrey Street Croydon will close its doors for the very last time on the 16th August 2025.
“I would like to thank the thousands of customers for their loyalty and support over the last 60 years, you will be very much missed by myself and all the staff, but unfortunately with continuous rises in overheads, which were made particularly bad by the present government, and the significant growth in shoplifting, this family independent pet shop will now sadly have to close for good.
“Once again, many thanks to all our loyal customers for their support and my wonderful members of staff for their hard work and enthusiasm over the last 60 years.”

Daughter takes over family petfood business
Elma van den Berg has become the full owner and director of Renske Natural Petfood in the Netherlands, taking over from her parents Renske and Jan, who started the company 32 years ago...

Elma van den Berg has become the full owner and director of Renske Natural Petfood in the Netherlands, taking over from her parents Renske and Jan, who started the company 32 years ago.
Elma has been involved in the family business from the very beginning and has been a shareholder for over 25 years, with (joint) responsibility for operational management. She is set to continue the family tradition by taking over the business and is committed to growing the Renske brand.
Renske Natural Petfood started in 1993 as an importer of English brands, but the founders soon realised that the food was not adequate.
Elma ssaid: “Solid nutrition is essential for the health and behaviour of dogs and cats, as well as their look and vitality. We noticed there was a lot of room for improvement.” In 2008, the focus shifted entirely to the Renske Natural Petfood brand, which is now an established name in the pet food business.
Renske Natural Petfood is a family business. Elma’s brothers Eric and Jan-Hilco have helped in its success too. Elma added: “The next generation is joining the ranks. My eldest son helps with accounting. My daughter can often be seen modelling in our marketing communications. And the youngest son offers his very honest opinion on how he would tackle things.
“What started as my parents’ passion for healthy and natural food for animals has grown into a trusted and impactful brand. We became the market leader for high-quality, freshly steamed meat feed in recent years. For example, we have always added fresh meat and superfoods to our pet food products. Our vision: our food allows you to offer a varied diet with lots of combinations. This means your pet does not eat the same food every day, instead enjoying variety – just like we do. Another example is our switch to sustainable Tetra Recart packaging. We were the first in the Netherlands to make this change,” says Elma.
“I am proud of what we have achieved as a family over the years, also thanks to the contributions of our dedicated team, partners, and customers. Now it is time for the next step and I will remain committed to the mission and vision of Renske Natural Petfood. We will continue to innovate and focus on quality and sustainability. What’s more, we will respond to pet owners’ evolving wishes and requirements. The passion and love for animals will always be at the heart of what we do.”
Renske and Jan are set to retire.

Pet-sitter on mission to achieve equal rights for cats

A cat sitter, who got fed up with the lack of products for felines, has launched a new national campaign, Cats Deserve More, calling out the pet industry for consistently sidelining the UK’s 12.5 million pet cats.
Wendy Thomson Melling, founder of My Three Cats, says cat owners want to treat their pets just as much as dog owners but says brands only focus on dogs and feels they’re missing out on a huge opportunity.
Despite cats being on track to overtake dogs as the UK’s most popular pet, dog products still dominate the shelves in pet shops, supermarkets, and even vets, leaving cat owners frustrated.
“We’ve been told to our faces by pet shop owners that they don’t stock much for cats because ‘cat owners don’t spend’ and ‘they just buy food in the supermarket’ and it simply isn’t true,” says Wendy, a former accountant who started her business in 2017 and has 17 sitters across Warrington.
“Cat owners are passionate and educated. They don’t want to ‘make do’ with dog products. Cats are not small dogs, they’re a completely different species with very specific needs. We want choice, quality, and more products catering for the needs of our cats.
“The latest stats from UK Pet Food say there are 36% of homes with a dog and 29% with a cat. It’s not a huge difference but you’d never guess looking at what’s on the shelves.
“You see so many products for dogs, from fitness trackers to training games and all kinds of treats, and there is so little out there for cats.”
The campaign is backed by data. UK cat owners spend an estimated £8 billion a year on premium food, enrichment toys, healthcare, behaviour support, custom furniture, and in-home care. But many are forced to shop online because high-street stores focus on dogs.

Clayton Payne, pet industry expert and host of the Pet Business Disruptors podcast, has given Wendy’s mission his backing.
He added: “I can tell you that right now, the majority of R&D money in the industry is going into cat. Things are changing fast – 31% of cats in the UK are now kept exclusively indoors, up from just 15% in 2011. That shift reflects a deeper change: the role of the cat within the family structure is evolving.
"As their importance grows, we’re seeing real momentum behind premiumisation and innovation in the category. The industry knows it’s been behind when it comes to cats, and it’s moving quickly to catch up.”
The Cats Deserve More campaign will highlight these disparities and push for better representation, retail reform, and equal recognition for the UK’s feline population.
My Three Cats has won multiple industry accolades, including Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday award. With demand rising, Wendy plans to franchise the business nationwide, offering full training and brand support to aspiring cat-care professionals.
