Kent's Four Paws Groom school has been approved by the Ministry of Defence to train forces leavers how to become dog groomers.
The Ashford school, which offers Ofqual regulated qualifications by iPET Network, has been approved by the MOD to deliver the full Level 3 range of Dog Grooming courses along with shorter animal care qualifications to military personnel from the RAF, Army and Royal Navy.
Personnel leaving the forces have access to a resettlement fund, giving them opportunities to re-train at approved facilities, Four Paws Groom School now has their Kent and Cheshire schools approved and as pet grooming is a growth industry, learning the trade could be a lucrative and rewarding choice.
Other courses including canine first aid, pet sitting and dog walking are also available to military leavers at Four Paws Groom School.
Sarah Sturley, from Four Paws Groom School Kent, said: "We are thrilled to be part of this very worthwhile resettlement scheme for forces leavers, and look forward to welcoming our first students.
"There are more pets in the UK than ever before, and popular cross breeds such as labradoodle and cockapoo need regular coat care.
"This means that many established groomers are struggling to keep up with demand, so it has never been a better time to consider a career in pet care."
iPET Network qualifications are regulated by Ofqual, and are designed by experts working in the industries that the courses focus on.
The MOD's Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) Scheme promotes lifelong learning among members of the Armed Forces.
