Birmingham Dogs Home has announced that its much-anticipated ‘Family Fun Day’ will now take place at its rescue centre in Catherine-de-Barnes, Solihull, on Saturday, rather than at Tudor Grange Park, where it has previously been held.
Returning to its original location at the Dogs Home, the event enables visitors to see first-hand how Birmingham Dogs Home supports homeless and vulnerable dogs across the West Midlands.
The charity, which supports thousands of dogs each year, made the decision to change the venue to bring the event back to where it all began and encourage stronger connections between visiting supporters and the vulnerable dogs they help.
Though the location has moved, the rest of Birmingham Dogs Home’s ‘Family Fun Day’ is unchanged. Guests can enjoy dog shows, training demonstrations, stalls from local businesses, plenty of food and refreshments, children’s entertainment, and an abundance of ‘have a go’ activities to keep the family entertained.
The ‘Family Fun Day’ will begin at the Catherine-de-Barnes centre at 10am on Saturday 20th June and will finish at 4pm. Free parking is available, and tickets – which are purchased on entry – cost just £2 for adults, £1 for children, and dogs go free.
In addition to providing a fun day out for families and locals, the aim of the event is to raise vital funds to ensure Birmingham Dogs Home can continue to support abandoned dogs across the region. It costs the charity roughly £6,000 a day to keep the doors open to both of its centres in Solihull and Wolverhampton – with over 2,000 dogs rescued each year.
Staff and volunteers from Birmingham Dogs Home will be on hand throughout the day to provide advice on training, veterinary care, responsible pet ownership, and adoption for those who may be interested.

Rachel Frost, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Dogs Home said: “We're absolutely delighted to be bringing our ‘Family Fun Day’ back to Birmingham Dogs Home this year.
“Not only does it allow visitors to enjoy free parking and all the fantastic activities we have planned, but it also gives people the opportunity to see first-hand the place where thousands of dogs receive care, support, and a second chance every year.
“Our ‘Family Fun Day’ is all about bringing our community together. Whether you're entering the dog show, browsing the stalls, enjoying the demonstrations, or simply spending time with fellow dog lovers, every person who attends helps us continue our work with homeless dogs across the West Midlands.
“We're incredibly grateful to our supporters, volunteers, stallholders, and local businesses who help make events like this possible, and we can't wait to welcome everyone for what promises to be a fantastic day."
