Dog walk aims to raise thousands for animal welfare

Back for its fourth year, the Agria Dog Walk UK is bigger and better than ever before. Announcing a new three-year partnership with English Heritage, the annual charitable event is calling for British pet parents and their canine companions to join thousands dogs and their families across Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden, in putting their best paw forward to raise vital funds for animal rescues.

The dog walk marks the beginning of Agria’s support for English Heritage’s dog-friendly days out and owners can register online now to take part in a leisurely walk on Saturday 20th May at their closest participating site, choosing from Dover Castle, Kent; Witley Court and Gardens, Worcestershire; Pendennis Castle, Cornwall; Wrest Park, Bedfordshire and Birdoswald Roman Fort, Cumbria.

Tom Gannagé-Stewart, Head of Corporate Partnerships and Sponsorship, English Heritage, says: “English Heritage is thrilled to be partnering with Agria Pet Insurance over the next three years by joining forces to deliver an annual dog walk at five of our historic sites. This exciting new partnership will help the organisation continue its vital work as an independent charity, while also raising awareness of the 150+ dog friendly historic sites in our care.”

As PETA reports that 100,000 dogs are estimated to be homeless in the UK1, Agria, the UK’s best pet insurer, is set to donate £5* for every dog that walks the walk around the beautiful British countryside - with an aim of raising thousands of pounds for dogs in need.

Vicki Wentworth, CEO at Agria Pet Insurance, says: “It’s always so heart-warming to see dog lovers across the country unite to help to make a difference to the lives of animals in the care of rescues. We continue to see the cost of living crisis putting rescues under stress, so it’s never been more important to help to care for and rehome animals abandoned due to no fault of their own. Last year’s dog walk saw over 800 dogs in the UK, and over 18,000 across Europe, walked to raise funds of over £35,000 - and this year we have set our sights even higher.”
