Pet food firm sees sales growth in small breed products

Award-winning pet food manufacturer Walker & Drake is seeing an increase in sales of its products as small breeds of dog continue to be the most popular in the UK.

The Barnsley-based company took away the top prize for Best New Food Product at the Pet Industry Federation (PIF) Awards with its Cold Pressed Puppy and Small Breed foods.

In the top 10 breeds registered with the Kennel Club are Yorkshire Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer, Border Terrier, Pug, Miniature Smooth Haired Dachshund and French Bulldog.

Walker & Drake was formed with the clear intention of producing a British made, complete nutritional dog food made using the ‘minimal processing’ cold pressed technique. The cold pressed process produces a product that breaks down easily in the stomach, aids digestion and maintains a higher protein content.

Walker & Drake’s Cold Pressed Puppy Food is made by taking great ingredients (individually cooked at low temperatures for optimum nutrient retention), mixing them, and pressing under low temperatures to get a naturally softer, denser, complete nutrition puppy food. Ideal for any young pup!

The kibble size is smaller (7mm diameter) which is perfect for those smaller puppy mouths. The protein content is slightly higher to match the activity level of growing pups and the finely tuned blend of quality ingredients with vitamins and minerals will support growing dogs of all breeds. Feed it dry or soak in water to make a porridge consistency for very young and weaning pups.

The Walker & Drake Small Breed Food is a complete nutrition cold pressed dog food with a smaller kibble size for those smaller mouths. It is made with rice, a great source of carbohydrates for instant energy, vitamin D, fibre and iron.  The cold pressed method keeps natural enzymes and vitamins locked in as well as retaining fibre and molecular structures, and most important, dogs love the taste! Available in three varieties, Lamb and Rice, Ocean Fish and Turkey and Rice the food is wheat and gluten free, highly digestible and gentle on tummies. It contains added vegetables and botanicals providing all the vitamins and minerals your dog’s needs.

Walker & Drake source ingredients within the UK where possible and the food is packed in PE/PE 100% recyclable bags.
