Insect protein pet food secures first garden centre stockist

Monkton Elm Garden Centre in Taunton, Somerset, has become the first garden centre in the UK to stock Percuro Insect Protein pet food.

Natalie Gray, Monkton Elm’s pet centre manager said: “As a pet shop in a garden centre our two main priorities are pets and sustainability. It can sometimes be difficult to find something that’s really good quality for your pet as well as helping to reduce your carbon footprint and Percuro hits both of these requirements.

“With regards to the food it’s full of hypoallergenic pre-biotics and vitamins and all ingredients are 100% traceable.

“I think insect protein is a great conversation starter. We share our planet with 500 million companion cats and dogs, who consume an Earth-shattering 20% of the world's meat and fish!

“To put this into perspective producing 1kg of insect protein from a popular edible insect requires 92% less space, 99% less water and creates 99% less carbon than making the same amount of beef protein.

“We are the first garden centre to stock it and the only stockist in the south region. What makes this even better our main pet charity we support – Rushton Dog Rescue – has also partnered with Percuro.

“We are getting loyalty cards where customers will get their 8th bag free and they also offer a satisfaction guarantee, which is great for those pet parents with fussy dogs.

“The packaging is completely recyclable which I think the majority of customers are conscious about.

“We are also getting a screen which shows a two-minute clip of everything in cartoon form so customers can see for themselves what Percuro offer.

“This food is also cruelty-free which appeals to customers who are vegetarian or vegan.”
