Plans approved for former pet shop
Plans have been approved to turn a former pet shop into an MOT and repair centre, recruitment agency and wholesale shop.
Stamford Animal and Pet Supplies (SAPS) in Spalding, Lincolnshire, closed a year ago with online shopping and a decline in the high street being blamed for the store’s demise.
Now, South Holland District Council has approved a change-of-use application, stating: "The new businesses would ultimately serve the needs of the local area and contribute to the local economy, as well as creating jobs.
"It is considered that the change of use of the existing units would not have a significant adverse impact upon the viability of delivering any allocated employment site.
"Moreover, the proposal is acceptable on highway grounds and no objections have been received from local residents.”
