Green Pantry launches freshly cooked dog food range

Green Pantry, the natural dog nutrition brand recently acquired by the owners of Burgess Pet Care, is launching a new line of freshly cooked, easy-to-store dog food. Developed in direct partnership with the veterinary experts at Pickles Vets, the new range brings expert-led, functional nutrition to help pet owners better support their dogs’ health.

Understanding the common reasons dogs visit vets was a key part of the new products. The range features four specific recipes focusing on weight control, mobility and joint health (especially for senior dogs), skin and coat care, and digestive care. These specialised diets are designed to give pet owners a simple, practical way to support their companions every single day.

The veterinary team at Pickles recognised a specific market need for diets that bridge the gap between clinical support and everyday feeding. As the team at Pickles explains: “There are some excellent options available for pet owners in the UK, but we felt there was room for something new. This range brings together functional health formulation and quality natural ingredients in a way that feels simple and accessible for everyday use.”

Pickles Vets wanted to provide bespoke nutrition that directly addresses the issues they treat daily in their clinics, beyond general wellness. They go on to explain: “Working with Green Pantry and Burgess gave us the opportunity to have direct input into the formulations.  Each recipe reflects the conditions our team sees most often in practice, from digestive health, skin and coat, weight management, and joint support, particularly in older dogs. The result is a range built around carefully selected proteins, natural botanicals, and targeted functional inclusions, all formulated to FEDIAF guidelines.”

Dr. Suzanne Moyes from Burgess Pet Care and Green Pantry commented on balancing specific needs with great taste and convenient feeding habits. “This was achieved over an 18 month process, which is much longer than our normal NPD timelines. The complexity of our desired outcome meant it involved a lot of back and forth between our nutritionists, the veterinary team at Pickles and our ingredient and nutritional suppliers, which was then followed by more than a few rounds of product testing.”

The new, freshly cooked range is available in four formats (Digestive Care, Weight Control, Mobility & Senior and Skin and Coat Care). The range is available in 380g pouches or 3.04kg boxes with an RRP from £3.99 via the Green Pantry website and specialist pet retailers
