Tetra makes a splash underground with jaw-dropping aquatic installation

Tetra has teamed up with Aquatic Design Centre to create an exclusive underwater experience in London’s Old Street Underground Station.

Open to the public for one week only, The Tetra Tranquillity Tank, a custom built serene aquatic pop-up experience, will inject an element of calm into the chaos of the daily underground commute.

Bespoke aquariums will house turtles, catfish, red crabs and angel fish alongside a host of other beautiful species and plant life.

Offering a complete sensory experience, visitors can unwind in relaxing seating whilst listening to therapeutic, underwater sounds in an environment that reflects the tranquillity of an aquarium, created by water projections, special effect lighting, plants and the scent of freshly brewed herbal tea.

With half of Londoners (50%) claiming to have less than one hour of ‘me time’ each day, the Tetra Tranquillity Tank will offer commuters time out during their daily routine.

Giuliano Buccino, Head of Marketing at Tetra, said: “We’re very excited to launch our underground, underwater experience which will offer Londoners a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

"Not only is the pop-up an opportunity for visitors to experience the serene environment aquariums can create it also highlights their versatility.

"Whether consumers are looking for a striking piece of aquatic art or their own relaxation room there really is an option for everyone no matter how much experience they have.

"At Tetra we work hard to make fishkeeping easy, safe and more enjoyable than ever, with a huge part of this being education and innovation to make the hobby as accessible as possible, helping to make sure people and families can easily access the benefits to keeping and enjoying a pet.”

With four in five (79.8%) Brit’s claiming to be under pressure every day, it’s not just London residents that can benefit from fishkeeping. And considering 24% of UK adults are clinically obese, it’s hardly surprising to find that our favoured stress relief is comfort food and treats.

Alcohol, smoking and boxset binging are all among the top stress relievers. Clearly stress has an impact on our overall health and wellbeing; lack of sleep (51%), feeling run down (45%) and general health (29%) are the top three things to suffer due to stress according to Tetra’s findings.

Open until today, the Tetra Tranquillity Tank aims to offer a calming environment where the public can be inspired to think about setting up an aquarium in their home.

During the week visitors will be able to learn more about aquariums, the best type of fish for beginners, and the products and solutions available which help to make fishkeeping an even more enjoyable hobby by reducing the amount of time needed for maintenance.

From Monday 12th – Thursday 15th September Tetra is also welcoming local business to use the space for meetings. For more information or to register interest please contact TetraTranquillityTank@speedcomms.com
