The Pet Industry Federation has underlined its commitment to helping its smallest members, through its new Small Business Support membership tier, which aims to support not just the business, but also the personal wellbeing of their owners.
PIF recognises that business owners often invest everything into their businesses, frequently at the expense of their own health and well-being. Stress and burnout are real challenges, and PIF is keen to help small business owners take care of themselves.
The programme includes a range of personal benefits, such as:
- 24/7 access to a telephone and online GP service
- 24/7 counselling and mental health service
- Virtual physiotherapy
- Virtual gym and discounted gym membership
- Money and credit score advice
- Shopping discounts on essentials like groceries, travel, and insurance
Nigel Baker, PIF chief executive, said: "Small businesses face unique challenges—juggling tight budgets, managing stress, and staying competitive in a fast-changing market. PIF’s Small Business Support membership tier is specifically designed for businesses with a turnover of under £250k, offering affordable, practical, and personalised support to make it easier for business owners to prioritise their personal health and financial well-being. A healthy business starts with a healthy owner and we believe PIF membership has a role in assisting members’ overall well-being and business success.”
In addition to this new focus on personal well-being, PIF continues to provide a range of business-related services, including a legal helpline, discounted insurance, job board and card-processing rates. These services are designed to support the operational needs of pet businesses, ensuring they have the resources necessary to thrive. The Small Business Support tier is currently only open to new members. Existing members will be able to renew their membership onto this tier later in 2025.
