Think big when it comes to small animals

As it urges pet retailers to ‘think big when it comes to small animals’, award-winning brand HayPigs! is giving away £200 of stock to one lucky shopkeeper at PATS Telford.

All visitors need to do is to pop over to the HayPigs! stand (A16) and enter this unqiue competition.

HayPigs! owner Rik Cridland said: “We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone at PATS this year for what will be our 9th show.

“We’re asking our friends in the pet trade to think big when it comes to small animals. With a record-breaking rise in small furries over the last couple of years, it really is their time to shine.

“HayPigs! has campaigned long and hard to raise the profile of small furries and their welfare and enrichment needs and we’re beginning to see a sea change in attitudes. Small animals are no longer just a pet for children (as they were once viewed). Over the last seven years we’ve witnessed more and more adults becoming small furry pet parents – and boy do they love to spoil their little ones.

“Not only do small furries make wonderful companions, they are also brilliant for us humans too, improving our wellbeing and enriching our lives. That’s why our range of high-quality enrichment toys, treats and accessories are just the ticket – if you’re not already, please do consider giving HayPigs! a go in your store.

“This week is Guinea Pig Awareness Week, something that is very close to our hearts. It’s more important than ever that we come together as a community to continue to raise the profile of these incredible little creatures.

“One of the negative impacts of such a rise in small animal pet population is that we are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of pets ending up in rescues. We have always worked closely with the rescue community and will continue to do so with the help of our sister business, Guinea Pig Magazine.

“We implore all our friends in the pet trade to continue to encourage responsible pet ownership and champion adoption wherever possible, there are so many piggies out there looking for a new forever home – let’s make their piggy dreams come true.”
