A revolutionary, environmentally friendly new product for cats, created in lockdown, has clinched a trio of honours in just two months after scooping a top UK pet industry award.
The prestigious 2022 Pet Industry Federation Awards named Huskaloo Coconut Cat Litter as the winner of its ‘Product Innovation Award - Cat’ at a glittering gala.
The prize was collected at the Northamptonshire event by Huskaloo Founder, the pet entrepreneur Tracey Voss.
It comes just weeks after Huskaloo picked up two other honours at the high-profile British pet industry awards, PetQuip 2022, this autumn.
At those awards, staged at the trade show PATS Telford, in Shropshire, Tracey also won the coveted Gold Award for the Theresa Swann Exporter of the Year 2022. Andwww.huskaloo.com was given a Silver PetQuip Award in the ‘Celebrating Green and Organic’ category.
‘Pet owners care about the environment’
“All these awards and honours amount to a strong endorsement for Huskaloo which is increasingly being recognised as an important, pioneering product,” Tracey Voss said.
“Right now, world leaders at COP27 are focused on threats to our environment – as Huskaloo aims to put a stop to damaging strip-mining and the dumping into landfill of millions of tons of used clay litters.
“We know pet owners care about the environment too so, especially with COP27 going on, we urge the owners of Britain’s 12 million cats to consider our more environmentally-friendly alternative. It’s also cheaper and kinder to cats.”
At the pandemic’s peak, many owners were reluctant to visit High Street stores and carry home heavy sacks of litter – prompting Tracey to invent a smaller, lighter, more ecologically sustainable alternative.
Her product, made from dehydrated coconut husks, also won PetQuip 2021’s Gold for ‘Innovations in Lockdown’, with judges forecasting it “has the chance to change the landscape of cat litter for good”. The eco litter is 100% biodegradable, can be put onto garden compost heaps, and is also odour-free.
Added Tracey: “The Pet Industry Federation team is always very supportive to British pet sector companies and receiving their award is both an honour and a boost to our business.”
