Pet shop comes to rescue of dog charity

Local charity Ryedale Dog Rescue, which rescues and rehomes stray dogs, have received a donation of dog toys, beds and treats from a pet shop.
Simon Mason, from Mason's Pet Supplies in Howe Road, Norton, surprised the charity when he got in touch to offer them the items. Mr Mason said: "I really admire the work that Ryedale Dog Rescue do rehoming so many stray dogs and thought donating items such as beds, food and treats was one way we could help them." Rosie Stephenson, chairman of Ryedale Dog Rescue, said: "We are so grateful to Simon and got quite a shock when we saw the mountain of goodies.
"We always send our dogs out on a trial period and, to help them settle, usually send familiar things with them such as the bed they are used to and a favourite toy, so these items couldn't have arrived at a better time as we are so busy at the moment with more and more dogs needing our help." The charity began in 2010 and has since helped more than 850 dogs find new "forever homes" when they were facing a very uncertain future.
