Fire destroys Gardman warehouse at Daventry

Shortly after midnight on Sunday a major fire broke out at the Gardman warehouse in Daventry. There were no casualties but the building and stock was destroyed.

On Tuesday, the emergency services spent a second day attending the scene. The fire is fully contained but investigations are on-going. Emergency service presence has been scaled back and discussions about the demolition of the building were due to take place yesterday (Wednesday).

Northamptonshire Police confirmed that a man arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the fire has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

In a statement Gardman said: "Whilst the fire has destroyed the Daventry warehouse, our business recovery plan is starting to take shape as we consolidate stock from other locations, receive stock from overseas and continue to source our core business of wild bird care locally.

"We would like to extend our thanks to all those who have offered their help and support whilst we pull this together.

"We will update you as we progress via www.gardman.co.uk"
