Wilsons Pet Food wins nomination for a prestigious PetQuip Award and secures 15 more stockists

Wilsons Pet Food, a Perthshire-based pet food company that can trace its heritage back well over a hundred years has been nominated in the Pet Product of the Year category for dogs (food, treats and health) in this year’s prestigious PetQuip Awards.

The PetQuip Awards reward those companies in the pet industry who excel in what they do. Now in its seventh year, organisers say the awards have attracted ‘an unprecedented level of interest this year with several hundreds of entries from a diverse range of companies both large and small. The winners will be revealed at the PetQuip dinner at PATS Telford in September. For the first time, a number of overseas entries were received for the various product categories, reflecting the growing international importance of the PATS Telford trade show and recognition of the benefits of winning a PetQuip award.

With a long history in working dog foods, Wilsons Pet Food now produces an expanded range of products to cater for an ever-demanding consumer and continues to innovate within the pet food sector. They source only the best quality ingredients and produce top quality, appetising foods which help to maintain the health and vitality of any dog.

With the only purpose- built factory in the UK to produce cold press food, Wilsons are hoping to expand their customer base even further. They want to establish the Wilsons brand even more in the pet food market by adding a raw pet food which will be launched at PATS Telford. They have made supporting the independent retailer their priority by not discounting online, offering free samples and point-of-sale material in the way of posters and by creating boosted posts online to support new retailers. Wilsons have recently acquired another 15 stockists making the total number of new stockists in the past two months to 55 which shows the growing popularity of the cold press range.

The Wilsons cold press food is currently available in three varieties, Mountain Stream which is Scottish Salmon and Sweet Potato, Sweet Pasture which is British Lamb and Brown Rice and Sunrise Song which is Chicken and Vegetables. The recipes can be purchased in 2.5 and 10 kg bags. There is also a Working Dog range which is available in three varieties, Pork, Peas, Sweet Potato With Apple, Chicken, Sweet Potato And Peas and Beef, Peas, Sweet Potato With Carrot and is sold VAT free.

Commenting on the award nomination Craig Wallace said,

“We are absolutely delighted to be nominated for a PetQuip Award. It is fantastic to be recognised by our fellow peers in the industry for all the hard work our team has put in to producing the best cold press food possible for dogs. We are looking forward to introducing our new raw food range at PATS Telford and to meeting our existing and potential customers.”

Wilsons stand at PATS Telford is A31.
