Pets at Home has officially opened its new branch at Chilwell Retail Park, Nottingham - bringing with it 19 jobs.
It is one of 20 shops opened by the chain this year and was launched just days before the hotly-anticipated Marks & Spencer Foodhall, with both retailers taking up space in the former Wickes DIY store, along with a Poundland.
Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Graham Harvey, officially opened the Pets at Home store, and was also treated to a VIP tour of the brand-new facilities.
Store manager Vicky Martin said: "What a fantastic start! Our opening morning went even better than we had hoped and it was great to welcome Councillor Graham Harvey in-store, to show him the new amenities that we have on offer.
"Our new store features thousands of dedicated pet products for not only local dogs and cats but small animals, fish and local wildlife too. We have also created 19 jobs for the community across a range of full time and part time positions."
All staff at the new store receive extensive training on pet care and pet knowledge which is endorsed by City & Guilds.
Pets at Home in Chilwell is home to an Adoption Centre, run by independent charity Support Adoption For Pets, where pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small animals are cared for until a new loving home can be found. The 12,000 sq ft store also features an aquatics centre and pet village.
The new store at Chilwell Retail Park includes a Groom Room which provides a wide range of grooming options, including microchipping, nail clipping, hair trims or a full bath and blow dry.
Local pet owners will also see a Vets4Pets practice opening in the store, run by owners Natalie O'Hara and Melanie Patten, and their team.
