IVC Evidensia has appointed Dr David Singleton as Group Head of Clinical Research.

In this new role, David will focus on enhancing the commitment that IVC Evidensia has to clinical research and quality improvement, further developing the strategy and offering support to everyone in the business who wants to contribute to improving knowledge and patient care. 

IVC Evidensia’s Research Fund, which includes support for presentation and publication, is available to all employees, and they are committed to ensuring that everyone can benefit from this if they wish. David’s skills in data analysis and study design will support colleagues in ensuring engaging with clinical research is accessible and has the greatest impact.

David joins the leading veterinary group from the University of Liverpool, having spent several years working on a range of veterinary and medical projects across the UK, Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, mostly focusing on antimicrobial resistance and stewardship. 

He currently serves as a clinical lead for 'vetTeamAMR', in collaboration with RCVS Knowledge, and is planning to use this experience to help integrate clinical research and quality improvement at IVC Evidensia. In a clinical capacity, he has also volunteered his time working with Care For The Paw, a Liverpool-based charity that cares for pets belonging to those who are homeless.

David commented on his upcoming appointment: “I am looking forward to joining the team at IVC Evidensia, particularly working with all members of the veterinary team to help embed a sustainable research culture within everyday clinical practice. 

“IVC Evidensia has already demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the research ambitions of its colleagues; I am excited to be joining at a time when the group is working to establish further leadership in this critical area.”

David’s appointment will look to further the commitment to support research projects within the group and the aim is to embed a sustainable research culture for the future, supporting colleagues in all areas of practice across the group.

One early ambition beyond that is to extend his research into how large clinical datasets can be used to further clinical evidence and improve patient care. 

Unlocking the opportunities presented in connecting data across the group will allow the entire network to benefit and will ultimately, in David’s words, “create more opportunities to bring together knowledge and use that to improve patient care.”
