Since 2009 Beco Pets has been manufacturing eco-friendly pet products, from bowls made from recycled bamboo to soft toys made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. In 2014 George Bramble and Toby Massey, the owners and directors of this leading ethical brand, looked into the pet food industry. They decided to cultivate change and create a natural and ethical healthy dog food for the responsible owner.
After 18 months of extensive research, development and fine tuning of recipes it was time to launch their creation. Grain free, gluten free, 100% natural and packed with only ethically sourced fresh meat and fish. No meat meal, cereals or other cheap fillers so every ingredient is loaded with nutrients.
Beco launched with their 2kg bags as the primary offering and now the food has a following, they are expanding the range to include 6kg and 12kg bags. George tells us ‘after the success of the 2kg we had requests from customers who wanted to buy in bigger quantities, at the moment owners with larger dog breeds tend to be put off by the smaller bags. We want to make sure dogs of all shapes and sizes can enjoy a healthy and nutritious Beco diet’.
The natural food comes in three recipes with every recipe formulated for its nutritional benefits, digestibility and sustainability.

We asked Toby why he chose wild boar as a protein source. He replied ‘by using wild boar, each 2kg bag produces 16kg – 23kg CO2 less than beef, lamb or other red meats. It is also a lean protein rich meat which is great for dogs.’ He went onto explain ‘we go through this decision process for every ingredient, ensuring our recipes are the best for dogs and best for the environment. Asking which ingredients support local agriculture? How many air miles do they have to travel? Are the suppliers and animals treated with respect? The list goes on’.
George goes on to compliment ‘our brilliant in-house design team have worked tirelessly to design and develop new packaging to make sure it still holds the same high standards we demand for everything we do. The big challenge has been strengthening the bags while keeping the same natural feel our customers love.’
The 6kg and 12kg make their debut at PATS Telford. From here you will be able to order them in advance and they will be hitting the shop shelves in October. If you are in the area, you will be welcomed with open arms at stand C20.
