Petplan and Dogs Trust have joined forces to produce a series of new training and behaviour videos and advice from the charity’s Dog School experts, available online to all dog owners for free.
The series of ten videos and accompanying advice articles sit on Petplan’s website, and cover guidance and training for puppies to older dogs, perfect for new owners who want to learn about training to those who may be struggling with some problem behaviours their dog may be showing. From the basics of teaching essential cues like sit, to more advanced movements, the training principles are the same with positive reward-based training as the experts at Dog School explain. Other guides include toilet and crate training and how to help your dog walk nicely on the lead.
Dog behaviour is also included in the series, with insight shared on how to read and understand dog body language, how dogs recognise and respond to human behaviour and other animal interactions as well as guidance on how to manage unwanted behaviour, and how to help your dog adjust to life changes.
Bella Von Mesterhazy, Sales and Marketing Director at Petplan said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, to share very useful and practical training and behaviour advice, not only for our customers but for all dog owners. As the UK’s No.1 pet insurer, we know the importance training can play in keeping your dog safe and happy. Whether you have a new puppy who’s learning the ropes, or you want to understand your dog’s behaviour and help them adapt to different life situations, the team at Dogs Trust Dog School have provided expert insight and knowledge with handy tips for everyone.”
Maria Murray, Head of Community Education and Engagement at Dogs Trust said: “Even the most seasoned of dog owners can learn from Dogs Trust’s Dog School, training doesn’t stop when your dog is no longer a puppy, and continuing to practice reward-based training with your dog can be fun and enriching for dog and owner. Training with your dog helps to create a wonderful bond, and only good things can come out of that. We run a series of training classes through Dog School – dedicated sessions just for puppies, or for adolescent dogs, to those who need some more focused training on behaviour such as dogs who may be reactive to other dogs and 121’s focused on specific needs. If any dog owner is looking for a helping hand with their dog, get in touch with us as we are here to help.”
