Birmingham Dogs Home to host ‘fun-packed’ family day

Birmingham Dogs Home, is hosting a Royal Family Fun Day on the King’s Birthday on Saturday (21st June). The extravaganza will take place at Tudor Grange Park in Solihull from 10am-4pm. Entry is £2 for adults, £1 for children and dogs go free.

A fun affair aimed at bringing the local community together, the theme of the event is ‘paws and pageantry’ and will include a red carpet entrance, live entertainment, crown making, face painting, a dog show, shopping stalls, and more.

Plus, West Midlands Police Dogs will be giving a demonstration.

Though rooted in fun and community spirit – the aim of the day is to raise vital awareness of Birmingham Dogs Home across the region and raise crucial funds to ensure that the charity can continue to support abandoned dogs. Birmingham Dogs Home staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to educate and give advice on training, veterinary care, and responsible pet ownership.

The event, which is kindly sponsored by Ancol Pet Products, will also welcome a number of fantastic local businesses with shop stalls, as well as delicious refreshments on sale too.

It costs Birmingham Dogs Home roughly £6000 a day to keep the doors open to both of its centres in Solihull and Wolverhampton – with over 2000 dogs rescued each year.

Just one of these dogs is Polly, a lovely 4 year old German Shephard who has already shown incredible strength and resilience since being surrendered to Birmingham Dogs Home. After being diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition (PDA – Patent Ductus Arteriosus), she underwent major surgery thanks to the brilliant team at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service and their generous support.

She’s now on the mend and doing so well physically – but emotionally, Polly still needs a helping hand. Birmingham Dogs Home is looking for a dog-free foster home where Polly can feel safe and start to build her confidence at her own pace. To enquire about Polly or any of the other dogs in Birmingham Dogs Home’s care, please make contact via the website.

Suitable for those of all ages, the Royal Family Fun Day is free to enter and bringing along friends and family for a fun day in the sun is absolutely encouraged.
