Pet firm wins £100,000 investment on Dragons' Den

Magloc, the innovative dog lead connector, has won a £100,000 investment after appearing on BBC2 hit programme Dragon's Den on Sunday.

Tony Garlick and Steve Shickell from Magloc entered the Dragons' Den and asked for the £100,000 in return for a 20% stake in the company.

They received two offers for the full amount but in return for 40% equity, and after a short discussion amongst themselves they decided to accept the offer from Dragon Nick Jenkins, who became known for founding the online greetings card retailer Moonpig.com.

The Magloc was launched onto the pet market by Tony Garlick two years ago and has fast grown in popularity. The product is exclusively distributed by The Canny Company, who will be showcasing it at PATS Telford later this month.

It is claimed to be the easiest way for owners to connect to their dogs. The strong magnets mean the user just needs to point the Magloc at the collar clip and 'click'.

Nick Jenkins said: "The reason I'm investing in this product is because it's clever, has enormous potential and a number of applications. It's a great idea that needs to be capitalised on very quickly and the company behind Magloc will need a lot of help in achieving that."

The episode of Dragons' Den can be view by clicking here. Fast forward 45 minutes to see the Magloc clip.
