Two members of staff at pet accessories company Ancol have raised over £10,000 running the London Marathon for blood cancer charity and bone marrow register, Anthony Nolan.
Director Simon Lane (above right) and head of buying Richard Whitehouse (above left) completed their first ever marathon and raised £10,400 for the charity, which helped to save the life of Simon’s son, William, who was diagnosed with leukemia five years ago.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored us and for all your good wishes” says Simon. “Without the support of our family, friends and colleagues we would not have achieved this.”
Mary Campbell, Head of Events at Anthony Nolan, said: “We’re delighted that Simon and Richard have raised such a fantastic amount for our charity. The funds they have already raised will help us to recruit 10,000 potential bone marrow donors to the Anthony Nolan register – for someone with blood cancer, that’s 10,000 more chances of a cure.”
